For Want of Fish Side Quest Walkthrough in Octopath Traveler

Octopath Traveler is filled with all sorts of stories, from the main quest down to the little lives of NPCs. You can choose to pursue each mission in the game, and while you can completely ignore side quests, sometimes it’s worth spending some time on completing a few. One particular mission you might come across is the For Want of Fish side quest. If you are having trouble finishing it, here’s a simple Octopath Traveler walkthrough you can follow to get the job done.

The For Want of Fish side quest happens fairly early in Octopath Traveler, right about when you recruit or start with Alfyn at Clearbrook. Once you finish his first chapter, head over to the pier on the left side of town in Octopath Traveler and you will see a man trying to fish with an orange side quest marker lit right above his head. Talk to him to start the For Want of Fish side quest in which he will talk about looking for bait for his rod. Once he’s vented about his frustrations, you will want to head to the tavern to finish up the For Want of Fish side quest, which should be north of your location.

There, you should find a few patrons sitting at the table on the left side of the room. Using Tressa or Therion, steal or purchase the Saucy Prawn item – the item you will need to complete the For Want of Fish side quest. If you don’t have any of those characters in your party, just head outside Clearbrook and challenge or provoke the NPC by the river as H’aanit or Olberic. Once you’ve completed either of those tasks, head back to the fisherman to complete the For Want of Fish Sidequest in Octopath Traveler.
