How to Fix Loading Shaders Freeze Issue in No Man’s Sky NEXT
No Man’s Sky currently released its latest and largest free update titled No Man’s Sky NEXT. This update includes a ton of new content including multiplayer, base building, third-person mode, and in-game community events. Since its release in 2016 Hello Games have been hard at work to bring No Man’s Sky up to the caliber and potential they know it can achieve. With a vast procedural generated world No Man’s Sky is bound to have its fair share of hiccups and one issue players have been encouraging is a game crash or freeze on the “loading shaders” screen. Many players have taken to the internet to try and ask the community for help.
With Redditors to the rescue, many have found the fix the loading shaders freeze issue. While some report they are still having issues if you go into the game folder C:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\No Man’s Sky\GAMEDATA\SHADERCACHE and delete the shaders you can get past that screen all together. It is important to note that any mods you may have installed for No Man’s Sky may impact this fix, so be sure to uninstall any you may have running for the time being. Do this at your own risk. Alternatively, you can wait until Hello Games fixes the loading shaders freeze issue.
Other players have started fresh save files to work around this issue until an update or official word is released from Hello Games. If the problem still persists after these quick fixes reinstalling the game is another option. Unfortunately without an official word of a fix this is the best the community currently has to help players out with getting past this loading screen. The Reddit page is flooded with these posts and hopefully will be resolved swiftly.
