Using Items – NieR: Automata

Recommended Videos

In NieR: Automata, the action combat feels fast and it can be easy to get overwhelmed by enemies and lose a ton of HP. Whenever this happens, you’ll want to quickly restore your health and get back into good fighting shape as soon as possible.

To manually use items, simply press down on the d-pad, and you’ll bring up a quick menu in the bottom left corner of the screen. Use the d-pad to scroll through your list of available items, and choose the recovery item you want to use. You can also hit the left side of the touchpad on the DualShock 4 to bring up a menu that lets you change equipment and use items. Do note that using down on the d-pad to bring up the quick menu will not pause the game, and you will have to continue focusing on dodging enemy attacks as you pick out your items. However, using the touch pad method will put the game on hold, and you can take your time to pick and choose what you want to use.

In addition to that, it’s also worth noting that 2B will automatically use recovery items whenever her health gets too low, so you won’t have to micromanage your items all the time.
