Fine Grained Lumber is a resource in Ni No Kuni 2 that you’ll need to complete ‘Against the Grain’ at the start of Chapter 5. Like almost every resource in the entire game, it’s possible to farm it back at Evermore and extract it from your Stores. However, it’s not a particularly frequent drop and it does require your Lumberyard to be at least level 2, preferably with several citizens assigned to its production. But there are some easier ways to obtain Fine Grained Lumber in Ni No Kuni 2.

First – and by far and away the easiest – is to simply purchase it from the Swift Solutions Task Masters. Yes, this will cost you tokens, which might not be agreeable to you, but it is about the only way to instantly get the 5 required for the side-quest at the start of Chapter 5. You’ll need 50 tokens.

If you’re happy to wait and simply just collect the resource from Ni No Kuni 2’s world map in due course, Fine Grained Lumber can be found at Pinwheel Flats or the Fathomless Forests. You won’t have been here already when Chapter 5 begins, of course, but if ticking off the side quest (or acquiring whatever item/spell that necessitates the resource) can wait until later, that’s your best bet for finding it organically.
