Developed and published by Amazon Games, New World is an ambitious pirate-themed MMORPG with quite a few in-depth systems that can feel overwhelming when you’re first getting started. Here’s how you can farm territory standing fast in New World, and what it’s used for.

Farming Territory Standing Fast in New World

We’ll go over the benefits of increasing your territory standing a little more later, but essentially, whenever your standing rank increases, you gain perks for that region. For instance, you can choose to increase your storage shed size in that settlement, increase your experience gain, increase your gathering speed, and other things like that.

Eventually, you’ll even be able to purchase bigger and better houses. Territory standing is one of the most important things to be aware of in New World, and it’s important to raise it quickly when you’re in a region that you’re going to be spending a lot of time in.

Basically anything you do in the region will increase your territory standing: killing enemies and completing quests will raise it, and we’ve listed all the methods of raising it down below.

  • Killing enemies and animals
  • Completing quests (faction quests also count)
  • Completing town board quests
  • Clearing out corruption portals

Those last two methods are the most crucial if you want to really boost your territory standing fast in a short period of time. If you take a look at your map, you’ll find that there are red skull icons that pop up every so often. These are corruption portals, and if you have an Azoth Staff (obtained through the main story), you can defeat every enemy that spawns there and destroy the portal. This will reward you with an equipment cache, Azoth, tons of experience, and tons of territory standing.

Considering that you need a group to clear corruption portals, it might not always be possible to do those all the time. If you’re playing solo, you can check the town board instead and do the quests listed there. These are usually pretty easy and some of the easiest ones include delivering common materials or items, or hunting certain animals.

Completing these missions will contribute to town development, reward you with a good bit of experience, and also give you a big boost to territory standing. Definitely check the town board whenever you can.

What It’s Used For

As mentioned previously, territory ranks will provide you with tons of benefits in New World, and we’ve listed all possible benefits down below:

  • Crafting fee reduction
  • Trading fee reduction
  • Refining fee reduction
  • Property tax reduction
  • Increased storage shed size
  • Increased gathering speed
  • Increased experience gain
  • Increased territory standing gain
  • Ability to buy houses

There are a total of four house tiers available in the game, which offer shorter fast travel cooldowns and higher furniture limits. You’ll need to hit ranks 10, 15, 20, and 30 respectively for each of the house tiers, so if you want to buy the biggest and most expensive house in the region, you’re going to need a lot of territory standing.

That’s all you need to know about how to farm territory standing fast in New World, and what it’s used for. Be sure to check our guide wiki for more tips and information on the game.
