The new expansion to Capcom’s Monster Hunter World can only be played if you have completed all of the main story quests in the base game. But, if you’re wondering how to start the Iceborne expansion and play through the new master rank quests, here’s what you need to do.
How to Start Iceborne Expansion
Once you purchase and download the Iceborne expansion for Monster Hunter World, it’ll act as a simple yet huge patch for your base game, adding in all of the content that you’ve been waiting for such as the new home base, Seliana, several new monsters, the clutch claw, and a few other things.
Once you boot up your game, you will be given a new objective, which is to go and speak to the Fiesty Fiver, who happens to be standing right by the item box near the front gate of Astera.
You will then be assigned a quest that’ll take you to the Ancient Forest to investigate some strange things going on with the wildlife and the ecosystem –the handler will join you. Just speak to the Fiver again to start it.
On this quest, all you have to do is simply follow the handler and sniff out some clues, which then leads to a cutscene and once that ends, you will be brought back to Astera (we’re almost to the Hoarfrost Reach).
Once you get back, speak with the Commander and then you will finally get on a ship that will take you to the new region and from there, your Iceborne questline will start.
So, to sum things up:
- Speak to the Fiesty Fiver.
- Go to the Ancient Forest by taking his quest.
- When you get back, speak to the Commander.
