What Weapon Affinity Is in Monster Hunter World

Recommended Videos

There are a bunch of different elemental strengths, weaknesses, and other stats that you’ll need to take into account in Monster Hunter World. Just because you’re targeting a monster’s weak point, doesn’t mean you’re dealing the maximum damage possible or that your weapon is fit for the job. One stat you’ll need to keep in mind is weapons affinity, but unfortunately, the game doesn’t do a very good job of telling you what this is.

Weapon affinity is essentially that weapon’s critical hit rate. The higher it is, the higher the likelihood that you’ll land critical hits. Weapon affinity can also be a negative number, and in these instances, you may find that your weapon is landing weaker attacks than it really should.

If you find this to be the case, you’ll want to look for armor that has one of the following skills:

  • Affinity Sliding
  • Critical Draw
  • Critical Eye

These armor skills in Monster Hunter World can help increase weapon affinity, so always make sure to combine your armor and weapons together for the best possible loadout before jumping into battle.
