Is Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate Open World?
Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate is the first game in Capcom’s RPG series to make it to the Nintendo Switch, and it’s probably the largest Monster Hunter game we’ve seen so far, at least in terms of content and scale. However, if you’re wondering if the game is open world, we might have some disappointing news for you.
While the game’s various areas are pretty large, Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate isn’t exactly an open world game in the way that you think. The game features many large areas that you can explore, and they’re all cut up into different sections, separated by loading screens. These sections usually feature different biomes, and you’ll only be able to find certain monsters or resources in specific biomes.
What you need to know is that these areas are only open for exploration whenever you accept a quest from the village hub in Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate. Once you do that, you’ll be able to go to the specific area where the quest objective is located. You’ll also have 50 minutes to complete the quest, so you won’t be able to take your time to explore every nook and cranny of the map either.
Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate also features side quests that you can accept from NPCs, but these play out just like regular quests, where you’ll accept them from the board and head to the relevant area to start hunting. So, in short, if you’re hoping for an open world RPG similar to the likes of Skyrim and The Witcher 3, you’re probably going to be disappointed here. The focus of Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate is all on hunting large monsters, and then gathering their parts to craft better equipment.
