The Medium is the first of Microsoft’s big 2021 exclusives for Xbox Series X|S and PC. Coming from Bloober Team, the game is a third-person horror title, which is generally linear in level design, as you explore the Niwa complex and uncover its dark secrets. Given Bloober Team’s previous titles have been relatively short, some players may be wondering just how long The Medium takes to beat? Well, here’s everything you need to know.

How Long Is The Medium on Xbox Series X|S & PC?

The Medium takes around 10-12 hours to beat. Having played and finished the game for ourselves, grabbing almost all of the collectibles along the way, we’re fairly confident that most players will have the game finished within 12 hours.

If you’re looking to get every last one of the collectibles, including Echoes, Memory Shards, postcards and letters, you’ll want to be a lot more meticulous while exploring Niwa itself. These collectibles can often be tucked away in corners of rooms, and Marianne’s Insight ability will be crucial in helping you track down the best-hidden trinkets.

Doing so can add a little more time to your playthrough, so that’s where the 12 hour estimate comes in.

For those looking to simply blast through the main story and who aren’t too bothered by the collectibles, you’ll come in closer to 10 hours. That being said, we’d recommend trying to seek down as many collectibles as possible on your adventure around Niwa, as these add a ton of additional context to the story.
