  1. Look for any server messages posted in the Battle.net launcher.

If there’s server maintenance currently underway a notice will be posted near the top of the launcher. You can also visit the official Realm Status page for information on your server.

  2. Double-check that the client is up-to-date.

Select World of Warcraft, then click on Options (the cog icon). Choose “Check for Updates.”battle-net-launcher

  3. Repair your client.

Select World of Warcraft, click Options, then choose “Scan and Repair.”

  4. Restart your router and or modem.

It’s possible data was corrupted along the way, causing connection issues. Restarting dumps any broken files still lingering.

  5. Remove your addons.

Create a new folder, then move your addons to it. Boot WoW and try connecting; if you’re successful, then one or more of your addons are corrupted. Move back one addon at a time until the problem recreates itself. It’s tedious, but you’ll then know which addon is causing problems.

  6. Flush your DNS and IP.

Open Command Prompt, type out each of these commands, and then hit enter, one at a time: ipconfig /release, ipconfig /renew, then ipconfig /flushdns. Once you’re finished, attempt another connection.

  7. Reinstall World of Warcraft.

Don’t underestimate the power of a fresh installation. Select World of Warcraft, click Options, then choose “Uninstall.” Move your addons out, then click the Install button to start over.battle-net-launcher-install-world-of-warcraft
