How to Slide – Horizon Zero Dawn

Recommended Videos

If you’ve been playing Horizon Zero Dawn, you’ll likely already know the basics of maneuvering in the world. Sprinting, rolling and climbing are pretty straightforward, however, the game doesn’t tell you about the ability to have Aloy slide across the floor. This is an incredibly useful technique to utilize in both combat and stealthy approaches.

In order to do this, all you need to do is simply sprint by pressing the L3 button, and then holding down on the Square button. Aloy will drop to the ground and slide in the direction you’re facing. This can be incredibly handy for evading enemy attacks or sliding into long grass if you’re about to be spotted by one of the machines. It’s also worth noting that a slide tends to last for quite some time, so make sure you don’t overshoot and come out of the other side of your cover.

Be sure to use this and Aloy’s ability to dodge out of the way of attacks when in combat. A faster and constantly moving target is far harder to hit than one running in a straight line.
