Is H1Z1 Cross Play Compatible?
After years of being in early access, H1z1 has launched officially, with the battle royale frenzy now being made available to players on both Windows and PS4. An Xbox One edition has been tentatively planned for a later date, though it has been confirmed that this is not a high priority at this time. H1Z1 lead system designer Anthony Morton confirming to Windows Central that ‘right now, we are focused on PS4 for sure– once that gets out there and we’re happy with where it’s at, we’re totally open to exploring other platforms and what other platforms have to offer.’
Keen on taking on your friends and foes in cross play? You will, unfortunately, have to shelve that idea, as the PC and PS4 version are being very much treated as separate games. Touted as being ‘reimagined for console’, there are too many differences between the editions for cross play to be even remotely feasible, and the likelihood is that, as the two versions have more time to evolve and mature, the divide will become even greater.
Whether later console editions of H1Z1 will have enough similarities to allow cross play remains to be seen, though Sony’s general hesitance towards the practice could potentially throw another wrench into the works. At this point, it may be best to just file the idea as a pipe dream, and enjoy the unique experience of each platform based on their own merits.
That’s all you need to know about whether H1Z1 is cross play compatible. For more info on the game, be sure to search for Twinfinite.
