How to Get Valkyrie Armor in God of War

Recommended Videos

If you’re enjoying playing Kratos as a primarily Runic-heavy build, the Valkyrie Armor in God of War is the best you can equip in the game. It increases the damage if your Rune attacks, lessens the Cooldown time between their use, and initiates an Unstoppable Aura which prevents any of your attacks being interrupted.

It also looks pretty bad-ass, too, which is reason enough to want to acquire it. It isn’t easy, though. The Valkyrie Armor is split into three separate parts that require you to defeat three of the game’s hardest Valkyrie enemies to obtain. In order to actually upgrade the armor to its maximum level, though, you’ll have to beat all eight.

Before attempting this feat, make sure you’re at least a level 6. The Valkyrie’s are extremely difficult boss fights that will maul you in a single hit if you’re not at the right level.

You’ll also need to have completed the main story mission “The Magic Chisel” to open the Sealed Odin Chambers, and unlocked both Niflheim and Muspelheim by finding all four cipher fragments.

Once that’s out the way, you can start hunting the game’s Valkyrie enemies. After defeating the first (it doesn’t matter which), you’ll begin a quest called Finding Your Valor. This quest tracks the rest of the Valkyrie’s, which makes life a little easier. To locate the first Valkyrie, you can head to Midgard and search either Hidden Odin chambers at Mason’s Finale, Witches Cave Lower Level, the Foothills, or the Mountains to find one.

From there, you’ll have to take on Olrun, Gondul, and Hidr to acquire the three armor pieces.

  • Olrun in Alfheim will give you the get the Waistguard of the Valkyrie which has a chance of giving you a runic blessing to boost your runic attacks.
  • Gondul is in Muspelheim, and she is the final test of the first 5 Muspelheim challenges, as she’s the sixth and final test. Defeat her and you’ll get the Gauntlets of the Valkyrie which can refresh all runic cooldowns when you make a runic kill
  • Lastly, you’ll have to go to Niflheim to find Hildr. She’s the hardest of three due to her poison cloud maze. Defeat her and you’ll have the Cuirass which can activate the Unstoppable Aura perk that prevents attacks being interrupted.

To upgrade your Valkyrie armor, you’ll need to take on the other five Valkyries since they’re the only enemies that drop the special Asgaurd resources needed.

That’s all you need to know about how to get the Valkyrie Armor in God of War. For more useful information and guides on the game, be sure to search for Twinfinite.
