Genshin Impact is attracting plenty of attention for its Zelda-like aesthetic and anime vibe. Also, for the fact that it’s both a free-to-play mobile game and a conventional console/PC title all wrapped into one, which makes it super accessible to play. Of course, that also means there are some mechanics that some players won’t be used to. Here’s how to reroll in Genshin Impact.
How to Reroll in Genshin Impact
As alluded to above, Genshin Impact features a gacha mechanic that governs how players receive new weapons and characters. These are called wishes, and they’re made accessible to players about 45 minutes into the game after you arrive at the town of Monsdadt, speak with the Knights of Favonius, and hit Adventure Rank 5.
For your first wish (the beginner’s wish), you’ll receive two new characters and weapons, along with some resources and items. What you actually receive specifically is down to luck, though, and this is where the rerolling comes into play: some players won’t be happy with who and what they get, and they might then prefer to essentially start again.
Straight away, you’ll likely have spotted a problem with rerolling in Genshim Impact: it’s very time-consuming. Most gacha games get to the first instance of the mechanic much faster, but Genshin Impact requires quite a bit of playtime first.
Also, it should be noted that this is technically against the rules of the game. What you’re given via Wishes is what you’re supposed to be final, and you risk a ban by constantly trying to create new profiles and “cheat” the gacha mechanic from what we understand.
Anyway, assuming you’re OK with that you’ll probably be wondering how one starts over in an always-online game that constantly saves progress against your UID.
Well, it’s not very straight forward for consoles. Each profile on your PS4 is assigned a UID and you won’t be able to start a new game without completely uninstalling, wiping your save data, and then reinstalling and starting again.
Your only other option is to start the game again using a different profile. Of course, if you’re bothered about achievements/trophies then that might not suit since you obviously won’t receive them on your normal account (assuming you’ve been using that one up until now).
On mobile things are much easier. When you start a new game of Genshin Impact it will ask you to register with miHoYo, but you don’t have to do so via email. Instead, you can opt to simply register with a new username. This basically gives you the ability to create as many different profiles as you like.
