Calling the Chocobo – Final Fantasy XV

Chocobos are a great mode of transportation in Final Fantasy XV as you can use them to go off-roading and cross large distances in a reasonable amount of time, even without the Regalia. However, before you can call a Chocobo to your service, you’ll have to fork out the Gil to rent one first.

To do this, look for the blue Chocobo icon on your minimap and head to it. These icons represent the Chocobo rental stations scattered around Eos, and you can find one at most outposts. Interact with the outpost, and choose the number of days you want to rent the Chocobo for. You can rent one for up to a week for the low price of 350 Gil. Once you’ve done that, you’ll now be able to call a Chocobo to your location whenever you want. Hit the L2 button to bring up your items menu, and click left or right on the d-pad to tab over to the Chocobo menu. Select the Call Chocobo option here, and your Chocobo will come running to you in no time at all.

You can call the Chocobo to you at any time except when you’re in the middle of battle, unless you’ve unlocked the ability that lets you escape a fight on Chocobo-back.
