Final Fantasy XIV Patch 3.5 – Unlocking Zurvan EX

Zurvan is a brand new Trial that players can attempt in patch 3.5: The Far Edge of Fate. There are two versions of this Trial: normal and Extreme. Before you can tackle the EX version, you’ll have to clear the Hard version first. Before anything else, you’ll need to make sure you have an item level of 230 for the normal version. 230 can be easily achieved by purchasing better gear for your character at Idyllshire with Tomestones of Lore and Scripture.

To initiate the quest for Zurvan, head over to the Rising Stones in Mor Dhona and speak to Unukalhai to initiate the quest “The Last Pillar to Fall.” You need to have completed the quest “Balance Unto All” before this is available. Following this quest line will unlock the Zurvan trial in your Duty Finder. Once you beat him and complete the quest, you can then start the new quest “A Demonic Duplicate” by talking to Unukalhai again. This will unlock Zurvan EX, but this Trial has an item level of 250, which is nothing to scoff at. If you’re having problems gearing up, try to get a full set of Scripture gear to boost your item level, and consider going to the Palace of the Dead to obtain a better weapon for your Job as well.
