Final Fantasy VII Remake has arrived on PS4, and players will be busy helping Cloud on his quest to save Midgar once and for all. With this being a full remake, the game looks absolutely stunning with modern-day visuals to bring this ’90s classic to life. As such, some players may be wondering about Final Fantasy VII Remake’s PS4 Pro compatibility.
Final Fantasy VII Remake PS4 Pro Compatibility
The good news is that Final Fantasy VII Remake makes use of the PS4 Pro’s extra horsepower.
Specifically, those with Sony’s supercharged console will be able to enjoy the game in a 4K resolution. Neither Sony or Square Enix have given the specifics of this 4K resolution, as chances are this is a checkerboard upscaled resolution to 4K, rather than a native one.
This will only be available on the PS4 Pro, with the standard console displaying the game in a 1080p Full HD resolution. Please also keep in mind that if you’re playing Final Fantasy VII Remake on a Pro and want to experience the game in 4K, you’ll need to have a compatible 4K display too.
It’s not all doom and gloom for original PS4 owners, as both consoles will also be able to make use of HDR (High Dynamic Range) technology as long as your display can display an HDR image.
HDR will make the colors more vibrant and true-to-life, and enables the game to be displayed in a much, much wider color gamut than the standard. This, combined with 4K will make a significant improvement to the visuals in the game.
