How to Get All Endings in FIFA 19 The Journey

Recommended Videos

With the release of FIFA 19 comes the end to the franchise’s career mode trilogy, The Journey. Spanning over three games, starting with FIFA 17, the story followed Alex Hunter, detailing his rise through the Premier League.

Throughout The Journey, players control Alex Hunter’s actions, both on and off the pitch, each resulting in different story prompts. In the end, each game ended at a similar point, in order for the story to continue fluidly in the next iteration. This isn’t the case in FIFA 19.

Since FIFA 19 doesn’t need to set up a story for the next installment in The Journey, it has a couple of different endings. Alongside this, FIFA 19 has three different characters that you can control, each with multiple endings. Here’s everything you need to know to get all endings in FIFA 19 The Journey.

Kim Hunter

Shake or Fake

For the only female player in FIFA 19 The Journey, Kim Hunter’s ending culminates in the FIFA Women’s World Cup final against Canada. For this ending, you’ll need to win the match. Unlike the other two characters, there isn’t much of a difference between the two choices for Kim, just slight dialogue and action sequences.

At the start of the match, you’ll be presented with the option of shaking the hand of rival Canadian player Melanie Trembley. If you go to shake her hand, she’ll draw it back to fake you out. If you decide not to, Hunter simply comments “Yeah, as if, Trembly.” While this decision doesn’t affect the ending, it does call back to it.

After winning the match, you’ll once again be presented with the option of shaking Trembley’s hand, who is down on the ground, sitting in defeat. This time though, Hunter has the option of whether to shake or fake. If they do shake, the players will complement each other, stating they are each both great players. If you decide to fake her out, Hunter gets her revenge, leaving Trembley sitting on the ground after faking her out to go celebrate.

Regardless of which option you choose, this ending will trigger a final cutscene in which Kim is packing up her Los Angeles apartment. While talking over leaving the city for the first time with her dad, Harold mentions that Alex’s agent, Bea, was able to land her a professional contract at a major club

Losing the World Cup

If Kim Hunter ends up losing against Canada in the final game, the ending doesn’t feature the option to shake or fake a handshake with Trembley. Instead, there will simply be a small cutscene talking about Canada’s win, despite the fact that they were underdogs.

Similar to the winning ending, Kim is packing up her LA apartment in the finals scene for this ending. Instead of landing a major contract though, it is revealed that she is headed somewhere in California to finish college.

 Danny Williams – Beat Alex

While FIFA 19 originally starts out as a story about Alex Hunter’s rise to stardom, it also follows an interesting narrative with Danny Williams. Initially starting out as a rival, Williams ends the series a friend, as well as one of the three main playable characters in FIFA 19 The Journey.

The ending to FIFA 19 The Journey links the two players together, pitting them against each other in the final. If you choose to play as Danny instead of Alex in the final, you’ll get the following outcome if you win.

No matter what team Danny is on in FIFA 19, he plays Alex Hunter’s Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League Final for his ending. If he wins, the winning celebration occurs for Williams and his team, that is until he excuses himself to talk to Hunter.

After Danny and Alex hug it out, Li-Li and Toro join them. Depending on how Alex treated them before, the two supporting characters will either wish him well or will brush him off.

Afterward, Li-Li and Williams reflect on the win before heading off the field. In the dressing room, Danny’s brother Terry arrives and the two hug it out, as the younger brother shows a pride in his senior that he hasn’t shown throughout the entirety of The Journey.

Danny Loses

The main difference to Danny’s story if he loses revolves around the final locker room scene. Instead of excitement, the striker is on the verge of tears after losing the UEFA Champions League Final.

Just like in the ending that saw Danny win, Terry will arrive, this time offering his support and condoling his brother. In order to cheer him up, the younger Williams even offers up his own Champions League medal to Danny as they embrace. This FIFA 19 The Journey ending closes with the two leaving the locker room together quietly.

Alex Hunter – Family Over Fame

The beginning of this ending is similar to Danny Williams’ finale but features a few different choices at the conclusions. Once Alex beats Danny in the UEFA Champions League Final he will be approached by Li-Li and Toro, who treat him differently based on previous choices in FIFA 19. Regardless of this, Hunter will walk over to Williams and help him up. The two chat about getting lunch, then Alex heads to the locker room.

The Real Madrid star is congratulated by Cezares and then greeted by his half-sister, Kim Hunter. The two celebrate the win, excited as can be, until Alex’s agent, Bea, arrives, directing him toward a press conference and sponsors meet up. Instead of doing that, Alex goes out to get coffee with  Kim, Catherine, Jim, and Howard.

In this family-oriented FIFA 19 The Journey ending, Jim tells his grandson how proud he his of him, calling him the greatest Hunter ever.

Press Conference and Sponsors

In this ending, everything plays out similarly to the Family Over Fame of the FIFA 19 The Journey endings. Alex wins the UEFA Champions League Final, talks to Li-Li, Toro, and Danny, and is praised by Cezares. The main difference comes when presented the option to pick between Kim and Bea.

Instead of choosing to go out and celebrate with his family, Alex can follow his agent towards a post-game press conference instead. In this ending, Alex goes straight to the conference, fielding questions from reporters on a podium and basking in the glory of his win. Kim is disappointed with his decision to choose fame over his family as he walks away.

Alex Hunter Loses the UEFA Champions League Final

Playing as Alex Hunter and losing the final match results in some key differences to the ending of FIFA 19’s The Journey. Once Alex leaves the field, Cezares remind him that losing is a learning experience and that he needs to focus on next year. Kim once again greets Alex, though they aren’t celebrating like they do when he wins.

Cut to Alex’s apartment, where his family is still present to celebrate and console him after his loss. Howard talks about how Alex is one of the youngest players to ever participate in a Champions League Final, stating that he should be celebrated for it. Jim praises his grandson’s personality as both a person and a player, expressing that he’ll be known as the greatest Hunter of all time when he retires.
