Getting Leather in Fallout 76

There are actually a few different ways you can get this handy crafting material as you trek across the wasteland. One of the easiest ways to get it is by looking for Brahmin as go about completing quests and the various challenges in the game.

Brahmin are the weird mutant cow-looking creatures that plague Appalachia. If you’ve yet to see one, you need a medal, because they’re everywhere. Simply put, whenever you see one of these, get a melee weapon equipped and head on over to it.

Melee attack it and with a bit of luck, you’ll be able to get a Brahmin Hide. These can then be taken to an armor workbench, weapons workbench, or tinker workbench and broken down for leather.

Similarly, many of the other animal-looking creatures that are wandering Fallout 76’s wasteland will net you leather if you can get their hides. We’ve included a list of the hides of the creatures that contain leather below for your convenience:

  • Brahmin
  • Deathclaw (and their hands, too!)
  • Fox
  • Megasloth
  • Mole Rat
  • Rabbit
  • Radstag
  • Scorchbeast (and wing fragments)
  • Snallygaster
  • Yao Guai

While it’s true that all of the animals listed have hides that contain leather in Fallout 76, we’ve given special mention to the Brahmin for a few reasons.

First off, they’re incredibly common compared to some of these other creatures. Second, they’re not all that hostile or dangerous to attack, and finally, each Brahmin hide you get your hands on will net you eight Leather.

The best place you can go to farm Brahmin in Fallout 76 is the town of Flatwoods. This is where you headed to not long after you left Vault 76 at the beginning of the game, and if you recall, there were Brahmin wandering all over the place.

As we’ve already mentioned, Flatwoods is a pretty great place to head to if you’re looking for Brahmin to beat down for their hides. However, another spot that’s well worth checking out is Camden Park.

This can be found in the Ash Heap region towards the north of it and is a little theme park.

If you were wondering why Mr. Fuzzy kept appearing in the item list above, that’s because it’s the mascot of Camden Park, and there’s a bunch of different versions of this mascot in souvenir form.

Fortunately for us, they all give leather when scrapped in Fallout 76.

Once you arrive here, head through the turnstiles to enter the park and watch out for the ghouls. Then, take a left and begin walking towards all the buildings.

The one you’re looking for is almost right in front of you and has a robot inside called “The Boss.” In here, you’ll find a bunch of the Mr. Fuzzy souvenirs that you can grab, scrap and get some sweet, sweet leather.
