How to Get Ignition Cores & What They Do in Fallout 76
Fallout 76, the recently released new Fallout game from Bethesda Games Studios has players scouring the wasteland that once was West Virginia. In hopes of rebuilding, players must gather and craft resources after being released from Vault 76. There is plenty to do in Fallout 76 and many players may be overwhelmed after they are released and left to fend for themselves.
Crafting is a huge part of the game and looting everything you can find will net you materials you can use to craft armor, weapons, and quest items. one of the items you can craft is an Ignition Core. Here’s how to get Ignition Cores in Fallout 76.
What is an Ignition Core?
An Ignition Core is a craftable item in Fallout 76 that is required for the excavator at Mount Blair. The quest description reads “find or build ignition cores” which has everyone looking for this coveted item. Searching around Mount Blair frantically will not net you an ignition core, because it seems like you can’t find them at all.
How to Get Ignition Cores
So if you can’t seem to find any ignition cores, how do you get them? Well luckily in fallout 76 fashion you can craft them, but it is not an easy feat. Once you go to a tinkerers workbench and interact with it you will be able to craft an ignition core if you have the required materials. They take 20 nuclear materials to craft one core.
Nuclear material is a very rare material in Fallout 76. An easy way to find some nuclear material is to go to Pleasant Valley. There is a collection of houses to the north that have a large supply of board games. These board games can be scrapped at a workbench and broken down into nuclear material. Not all board games will give nuclear material, but they are a healthy source of it.
Ok, now you have enough nuclear material and you have crafted an ignition core. You’ll notice you need a few for the excavator and this is where things get tricky. If you have an ignition core in your inventory and go to craft another one the game will recycle your ignition core to make a new one. An easy way to stop this from happening is to open up your inventory and drop the ignition core on the ground before crafting a new one. Once you have a few pick them up and head back to Mount Blair to sue the excavator.
