How Big the Map Is in Dynasty Warriors 9

Recommended Videos

Dynasty Warriors 9 marks the first time that the series is truly embracing the open-world formula. Players will be able to explore the sprawling terrain of Ancient China as they hack and slash their way through countless enemies, craft items, train horses, and plenty more. Of course, whenever an open-world game is about to release, the question on everyone’s mind is exactly how big the map is.

Well, we decided to put this to the test for you. According to a post over on Reddit, it was believed that “it will take two hours non-stop on horseback to traverse from one end of China to the other.” From our test, we can confirm that this is not the case. We grabbed our horse, and decided to embark on a journey from the northwest of the map to the southeast and we clocked in at just under 30 minutes (29 minutes, 47 seconds for those who want the exact number).

Though it’s nowhere near close to the rumored two hours to get across Dynasty Warriors 9’s world, that’s still a fairly sizeable map. To give you some sort of comparison, when we did something similar with Assassin’s Creed Origins last year, we clocked in at 16 minutes and eight seconds on horseback.
