How to Get Transmat Effects & What They Do in Destiny 2

Recommended Videos

Destiny 2 comes with a whole bunch of new features, gear, and adventures for guardians to embark on. Transmat Effects are just one of a number of cosmetic items you can use to customize the style of your guardian and their equipment. Here’s how to get Transmat Effects and what they actually do.

Transmat Effects are basically cosmetic items specifically for your ship. The in-game description reads, “Modifications for your ship’s transmat systems so you’ll always arrive in style.”

From our experience with Destiny 2 so far, if you want to get Transmat Effects, you’ll need to get to decrypting some Bright Engrams. To do this, you’ll need to go and see Tess Everis over at the Eververse in the social space. Bright Engrams can either be bought with real money via the Silver microtransactions, or from simply leveling up or as rewards for particular activities.

Aside from that, we’ve not found any other way to get our hands on these neat ship customization options in Destiny 2. It is worth noting that, as with Shaders, these ship cosmetic items are now consumables, meaning once you apply it to a weapon, you can’t get it back.
