Getting Cayde’s Pathfinder Trophy and Achievement in Destiny 2

Cayde’s Pathfinder is a trophy/achievement in Destiny 2 that involves unlocking all three Hunter subclasses: Arcstrider, Gunslinger, Nightstalker. While the first subclass will be unlocked simply by playing through the main campaign, the other two require you to spend some time looking for artifacts.

Unlocking Arcstrider is part of the main story, and following the campaign mission “Spark,” will automatically become available. Spark is the third mission in the main campaign.

Both Gunslinger and Nightstalker are unlocked by finding artifacts, which are found in random chests during free roam or private matches. Once you have obtained the artifacts, they will need to be charged up by killing a large volume of enemies. Following that, new missions pertaining to the artifacts will pop up and must be completed. Only then will you unlock the subclass.

Note that you must be at least level 7 before attempting to find your first artifact, and level 14 before you can locate the second. Presumably this is so that you get a decent feel for each subclass before moving to the next.

In our experience, the best chance of locating artifacts is to farm public events. Eventually, you’ll find a chest with one inside. Note that once you have one, killing any enemy type will charge the artifact but farming heroic public events charges them slightly faster.
