Deathbringer is one of the more complex exotic weapons to use in Destiny 2. It’s always been a decent weapon, but because it was so finicky to use and easy to mess up, most players just used easier to use exotic heavy weapons instead. How to Get Deathbringer Catalyst
Players are reporting that the Deathbringer catalyst will drop from any playlist activity. I, personally, got it from completing a strike, so I can attest that it will drop from strikes.
To max out your catalyst and activate its unique perk, you simply need to get kills with Deathbringer. Simple enough. Either bring it to your favorite activity and use it plenty or if you want to speed things up go ahead and bring it into the Shuro Chi encounter in Last Wish.
What the Deathbringer Catalyst Does
Prior to the release of the Deathbringer catalyst, you would need to shoot the rocket pretty far above a target’s head in order to give the Dark Descent projectiles time to “reach their full potential” aka the longer they are in the air, the more damage they do. The problem has been, though, that the higher you shoot it, the more room there is for error or for the projectiles to simply not track their target.
The Deathbringer catalyst solves this problem by making the projectiles reach their full potential much quicker. Meaning, you don’t really need to aim so high anymore. You can just shoot the rocket a little bit above your target, and they should all hit for near or full damage.
This increases its DPS potential by a lot as not only can you get damage out quicker (since you’re not waiting for the projectiles to hit), but you’re far less likely to botch the shot now since you don’t have to shoot the rocket so high in the air.
