What You Need to Know About the Mod Changes in Destiny 2 Forsaken

Bungie is overhauling the mod system in Destiny 2 Forsaken. Every single mod component in Year One will be scrapped in favor of a more interesting perk-based mod system. So, how drastic are the changes Bungie made for mods in Destiny 2 Forsaken?

Gone are the barely noticeable additional attributes and the +5 Power Level provided by mods in favor of ones that allow for a more personalized play style, with some mods even geared towards specific weapon types. Some of the notable perks for weapon mods include a bigger magazine size, improved accuracy when airborne, reduced recoil deviation, enhanced target acquisition, and much more. Mods can also be used to improve your damage against bosses or cannon fodder enemies.

While the mods definitely sound more exciting this time around in Destiny 2, don’t expect to get flooded by countless mods like before. Mods will be much rarer than before.

So, what will happen to your existing Year One mods and how can you get these? With Destiny 2 Forsaken, Year One mods will vanish completely from existence and will be turned into Mod Components. Said Mod Components can be used to purchase Year 2 mods from Banshee-44. If you don’t see any mod to your liking, check his wares again in the following days, as he will have a rotating stock of weapon and armor mods daily.

Mod components can be acquired by dismantling weapons and gear. Year One legendary (purple) armor or weapon mods will give you a guaranteed mod component, while rare (blue) ones will only give you a small chance to receive a mod component. Meanwhile, Year 2 mods will give you a guaranteed mod component each time. If you like a particular Year 2 mod that is attached to your weapon or armor, simply dismantle your gear to have the mod inserted in your inventory.

So, that’s everything we think you need to know about Destiny 2 Forsaken’s mod changes. Make sure to check our wiki for more useful information about the game.
