After nearly a decade of waiting, we can now venture into Night City with the release of Cyberpunk 2077. The game is huge, featuring all kinds of ways to upgrade your character and the gear they carry. As you’d expect, you’re able to improve your weapons with mods that do all manner of different things. So that you can reach your combat potential, here’s everything you need to know about how to mod weapons in Cyberpunk 2077.
Before we get to the process of actually equipping the mods, it’ll be helpful to get an idea of how weapon mods actually work in Cyberpunk 2077. There are two types of mods: Standard ones and Software ones.
The former is basic attachments like sights or scopes, while the latter change the statistics of the gun you’re using. They’ll do things like increase the fire rate, improve its accuracy, or boost the damage it can cause.
They’ll also let you do things like change the round type to non-lethal, if that’s the approach you’re taking in the game.
Each weapon will take different sets of mods and a different number of them, but the mods are nice and easy to find. You’ll find them in caches, when looting enemies, and can buy them from weapons vendors.
How to Mod Weapons in Cyberpunk 2077
Actually equipping the mods once you’ve got them is nice and simple, thankfully. You don’t need to go anywhere to equip them, with crafting and weapon mods not being tied together at all.
Instead, you can mod weapons in Cyberpunk 2077 at pretty much any time. You’ll simply need to open up your inventory and go to the weapons section of it.
Then, select the weapon you’d like to mod, at which point you see the open slots and mod types it’ll take on the left hand side of the menu.
To see which mods you have that’ll fit into those slots, click on the open slots and add whatever you want there. You’ll be able to see what affects they have, just to check that they give the bonus you want them to before confirming it.
