This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

Going to the Depths in Code Vein

As you progress through Code Vein, you’re likely to come across maps of different sections of The Depths. Though useless on their own, you can hand them in to the NPC known as Davis at Home Base as part of a side quest revolving around him regaining his memories.

Triggering this is simple too. Once you have a map of the depths, speak with Davis and you’ll trigger the side quest. Once you’ve done this, he’ll be able to teleport you to whichever sections of The Depths you’ve found maps for.

From there, you’ll be taken to special one floor dungeons wherein you’ll be tasked with finding a key to a boss room and defeating the boss held within. Doing so will not only grant experience, but will also grant you vestiges of some of Davis’ memories, as well as new abilities and items.

Are Code Vein’s Depths Worth Playing Through?

As for whether these optional areas are worth playing through, it depends on what type of experience you’re looking to get out of Code Vein.

If you enjoy getting as many abilities, items and lore bits as you can out of a game, then the Depths are well worth exploring. You’ll gain a slew of rewards and bonuses for your trouble, and you’ll get to know more about an interesting side character to boot.

On the other hand, if you prefer to stick to content which stays varied and is strictly tied to the main game, you may want to skip delving into The Depths.

While some sections of the area and side quest are varied, many boil down to the same formula and can feel repetitive if you don’t care about Davis or his lore.

That should cover everything there is to know on how to got to The Depths and what they are in Code Vein. For more on Code Vein, be sure to check out our guide wiki as well as a recent behind the scenes video on the intent behind the game’s music.
