Need some tips on how to change character appearance in Palworld? Pocketpair’s groundbreaking creature-capture RPG contains a good amount of variety when it comes to customizing your character’s look for adventure in Palpagos. Here’s our handy guide for how to use Palworld’s character creator, and also how to change it later on if you want a new look.
How to Customize Palworld Character Appearance
To start off, you customize your Palworld character when first creating a world. However, it should be noted that all customization is purely cosmetic and has no bearing on your character’s in-game abilities. Instead, you do that via the skill upgrades as you play and level up.
You’re given a blank slate of a character, randomly generated, before choosing from one of various presets, including gender, to begin a deeper level of customization. From there you can alter your character’s body, face, hair, and voice.
It’s all bound to be familiar ground to players who have used customization options in games like The Sims 4 or Baldur’s Gate 3. You pick from a range of options to determine which looks best, with the fun option to randomize entirely if you wish.
Once you’re happy with your customized playable character, scroll down to the Start Game button at the bottom of the screen, and dive into Palworld!
How to Change Character Appearance in Palworld
When Palworld first released back in January 2024, the ability to edit your character’s appearance after starting the game wasn’t possible. What you chose in the character creator was your look for the foreseeable future. However, a small prompt at the top of the menu indicated that a future patch would eventually include that feature.
Finally, as of today’s patch (0.2.0.6), that feature is here and you can now edit your character as many times as you like at no cost. All you have to do is build an Antique Dresser (as seen above), a new furnishing item that’s been added in the Ancient Technology menu. Once you’ve unlocked it with Ancient Technology points, pick a spot on your base to build it with the following resources:
- 100 x Wood
- 20 x Fiber
- 30 x Stone
- 5 x Ancient Civilization Parts
Even if you don’t think you want to change your character’s look just yet, it’s still worth checking out, as it looks like at least a couple of new hairstyles have been added.
