This article is over 9 years old and may contain outdated information

So you’ve finally figured out how to put all of those Caryll Runes you’ve come across in Bloodborne to good use. Now the only thing you have to do is go collect some runes, scattered around the many areas of Yharnam, in order to mold your hunter into a nightmare for Bloodborne‘s many beasts. Most are actually pretty easy to find. But in the case of one in Bloodborne, you might need a little help finding how to get the Hidden Formless Oedon Rune.

How to Get the Hidden Formless Oedon Rune

Finding runes usually require you either carefully checking every corner of a room, or just making sure not to avoid any side alleys. But, others like the Hidden Formless Oedon Rune are much more meticulously hidden. Runes like that require to look in places you would never even consider. Usually these well-hidden runes provide some of the best perks available in Bloodborne, so you may want to go out of your way to grab these up.

Formless Oedon is one such rune. Hidden near the cathedral in Yharnam, this rune presents a reasonable boon to hunters who like to rely on their firearms during battle. The Formless Oedon rune increases your ammunition capacity by four to a total of 24.

Sometimes 20 Quicksilver Bullets just doesn’t cut it. Of course, you’d have to find this rune which has been placed in Bloodborne. But don’t worry, we’ve taken care of that part for you, all you need to do is follow a few easy steps, and you can claim this rune as your own.

After you defeat Father Gascoigne (Bloodborne‘s second boss), you will gain access to the Tomb of Oedon. Quickly make your way through and you’ll find yourself in the Cathedral Ward of Yharnam. You’ll know you’re in the right place because there is a mysterious figure swathed in a red robe asking you to send survivors.

When in this area there are three doors, although the one to your right is locked. Progress a bit more in the game and take down the Blood-starved Beast, then return to this area. That door that was previously locked will now be open and you will have access to an elevator.

There are two ways to do this, although one seems to be a lot easier so we’ll give you that one. Ride the elevator up to the top and get off. Immediately turn around and walk over the button that triggers the elevator. Keep walking straight as the elevator descends and you’ll walk right off into one of Bloodborne‘s many hidden passageways. Follow the path that was just revealed and you’ll find yourself in a room with a chest. You get three guesses as to what’s hidden inside this chest; if you guessed Formless Oedon, then give yourself a prize. Once you collect it you should also get the Bloodborne trophy “Rune Master.”

Make your way around the corner and collect the Messenger Urn Festival item for good measure. Now that you’re done, drop down and you’ll find yourself back at the Cathedral Ward lamp. From this point on it’s up to you to either go back to Hunter’s Dream to equip your new Caryll Rune or continue your journey in Bloodborne.
