Biomutant: How to Save Your Game

As you make your way through the post-apocalyptic world of Biomutant, saving the Tree of Life one root at a time, you’ll no doubt reach a point where you want to take a break or save your game so you don’t lose all that progress you’ve made. Well, the good news is that Biomutant saving can be done both manually and automatically, and we’ll run you through both of these methods below.

Saving Your Game in Biomutant

You can save your game at any time by pressing the Menu button on Xbox, or the Options button on PlayStation, and selecting the System menu. Select the ‘Save Game’ option and choose the slot you want to store your save file in. Press A/X to confirm and your game will be saved.

This manual save process can be done whenever players want, but the game also makes use of a fairly rigorous auto-save feature.

Auto-Save

Biomutant’s auto-save seems to kick in whenever you reach a new area, uncover more of the map with a signpost, pick up a new item or weapon, and after any combat encounter or quest progression. In other words, whenever you do just about anything, the game begins auto-saving to ensure you don’t lose progress.

You’ll know that the game is auto-saving when you notice a number of small grey dots spinning and the words ‘Saving’ in the top-right hand side of the screen.

Whenever the game auto-saves, it’ll record your progress in a separate slot to your manual save. When continuing from the main menu, it will then select the most recent save, regardless of whether it’s auto or manual.
