Moss

Many of the entries on this list of the best PSVR games will have you adopting a first-person perspective as you explore foreign worlds or get terrified by a ghoul of some sort jumping out at you. Moss deviates from this trend, instead having players guide and spectate the adorable Quill through her adventure from the sidelines. Sure, you play a character of sorts, but you’re more a sentient being there to help Quill. She’s the hero here, but that doesn’t make this game any less immersive.

In fact, Moss is one of the most immersive and enjoyable PSVR games we’ve had the pleasure to play since its release. It doesn’t last all that long, but its glorious blend of environmental puzzles and basic combat make for a charming adventure with one of the most endearing heroes we’ve met thus far.

Resident Evil 7

Resident Evil 7 was arguably the first PSVR game of its kind when it released back in January 2017. No, not the first horror game, but the first full-fledged ‘game’ that was fully playable in PSVR. Many PSVR games currently aren’t all that long or have brief VR portions that give you just a taste of what the whole thing would be like with the headset strapped to your face. When it comes to Resident Evil 7, though, you’re free to play through the entire terrifying adventure in PSVR.

What’s even better, it works really well. You may have to battle with some nausea while you get used to it, but if you’re looking for an immersive horror game on PSVR, look no further.

Rez Infinite

best, psvr, vr, games, best psvr games, 2018, play, right now, download, ps4

Rez Infinite is as you may have guessed. It’s the original Rez rebuilt for PSVR and complete with a few bonus stages to make it worth the admission fee for those who have already played it before.

For those unaware, Rez Infinite takes PSVR owners on a trip through psychedelic levels with pulsing colors, trippy patterns, and speeding enemies to take down. Its gameplay is fairly simple, but the excellent synchronicity of visuals and the soundtrack really have to be experienced for yourself.

Skyrim VR

Let’s keep this one brief, shall we? We’re not going to bore you telling you about the nearly seven-year-old game that’s been on just about everything (it’ll probably come to your toaster this year). But if you’ve been seeking another full-fledged experience to lose yourself in. One that isn’t going to have you reaching the credits after a few hours, you need to give Skyrim VR a try.

There’s something magical about looking up and seeing a giant dragon gliding effortlessly above you. Bethesda toiled away on bringing a fantastic-looking, immersive Skyrim to PSVR, and it has absolutely delivered.

Superhot VR

best, psvr, vr, games, best psvr games, 2018, play, right now, download, ps4

Superhot VR is basically the best PSVR game to play if you want to feel as badass as John Wick probably does on the daily. This is an FPS title blended with a little puzzle mechanic in that time only moves when you do. Stand still, and time will pass at a fraction of normal speed. Your mission? Eliminate all the red enemies running towards you in each level without taking a single hit.

There’s a ton of replayability in Superhot VR in that its levels can often be taken on in different ways. Plus, who doesn’t want to be leaning all over their loved ones on the sofa as they try to avoid incoming bullets in VR?

Best PSVR Games You Can Play Right Now

Thumper

best, psvr, vr, games, best psvr games, 2018, play, right now, download, ps4

Thumper is all about its audio. The whole crux of its gameplay relies on you interacting with different objects or obstacles in different ways along a track in time to the soundtrack. Combine this with the flashing colors and winding track leading you ever-closer to the boss at the end and Thumper definitely stands out as one of those PSVR games that takes you far from reality.

What’s more, its rhythm-based gameplay is actually pretty darn compelling, and challenging, too! Plus, there are leaderboards for all you high-score chasers out there, and a bunch of trophies to keep you grinding down that track for hours on end.

Job Simulator

If fighting dragons in Skyrim VR or guiding an adorable mouse through a forest in Moss doesn’t get your VR mojo going, then perhaps Job Simulator with its fairly mundane premise will. Here, you’re living in the future, and all our everyday jobs nowadays are instead done by machines. So what better way to spend all that free time than to hop into a Job Simulator and experience fixing cars, making sandwiches, and working a cash register?

Turns out, these jobs are way more enjoyable in PSVR than they likely are in real life (and we can vouch for working the cash register). Flinging slices of bread across the room in a Gordon Ramsey-esque temper never gets old, trust us.

All we will say is that Job Simulator is a little light on content, and it’s not going to keep you coming back aside from maybe to demo VR to a friend or family member.

Farpoint

best, psvr, vr, games, best psvr games, 2018, play, right now, download, ps4

Farpoint’s release didn’t just bring a sci-fi shooter to the realm of PSVR. It also released alongside the compatible PlayStation VR aim controller. It may look a bit funky, but it certainly adds another level of immersion and realism to shooters when you’ve got a gun-shaped object in your hand and you’re actually pulling the trigger.

You’re not going to be getting an Oscar-worthy story out of Farpoint, though. It’s really just there to provide some context to you blasting countless alien creatures in the face. However, with co-op and arcade modes accompanying the single-player story, Farpoint is one of the more replayable titles to hit the PSVR thus far.

Statik

best, psvr, vr, games, best psvr games, 2018, play, right now, download, ps4

Statik is a short but sweet puzzle game that hit PSVR last year. Each level of the game comes in the form of a puzzle box that your hands are basically trapped inside. By using the many different buttons of the DualShock 4 and a lot of trial and error, it’s down to you to set your hands free!

What makes this intriguing puzzle game one of the best PSVR games, though, is the way it makes novel use of all of those features that Sony crammed into the DualShock 4. You’ll also probably want to bang your head against a wall once or twice after figuring out a solution far simpler than you originally thought

Keep Talking & Nobody Explodes

best, psvr, vr, games, best psvr games, 2018, play, right now, download, ps4

Now here’s a little gem to put your friendships (or relationship) to the test. Keep Talking & Nobody Explodes is a co-op game that sees one person in VR trying to defuse a bomb (above), while the other player uses a tablet or other smart device to read the bomb defusal manual so you both don’t blow up.

Sounds simple, right? Except, when you have a timer ticking away and your partner just cannot find the answer you need, things can get a little tense… and heated. It’s great fun as a duo, but not one you’ll want to play if you’re more of a lone wolf.

Batman Arkham VR

best, psvr, vr, games, best psvr games, 2018, play, right now, download, ps4

One of the most immersive PSVR games you could get at launch was Batman Arkham VR. As the name suggests, it places you in the boots (and cowl) of good ol’ Bats. You’ll get to toss Batarangs around, use the Grapple Gun, and uncover even more evidence with the Forensics Scanner. Plus, looking down on the busy streets of Gotham buzzing down below you as you stand proudly on a rooftop really brings the world to life.

Sadly, Batman Arkham VR is another title that feels somewhat like a PSVR tech demo, coming in at under an hour. While it lasts, though, Batman Arkham VR is some serious fun.

I Expect You to Die

best, psvr, vr, games, best psvr games, 2018, play, right now, download, ps4

I Expect You to Die is like the solo equivalent of Keep Talking & Nobody Explodes. As a spy, you’ll find yourself in some tricky espionage scenarios you’ll need to get yourself out of. Whether that’s being in a car that’s about to go careering out the back of an airplane, or trying to stop a terrorist from completing their attack, these challenges can all be completed in a variety of ways, and that’s where I Expect You to Die truly shines.

Figuring out the way YOU did it was completely different to the standard method almost gives you a strange sense of pride and satisfaction in your unique solution. Again, this one isn’t the longest experience at just a few hours, but it gets two thumbs up from us all the same.

Until Dawn: Rush of Blood

best, psvr, vr, games, best psvr games, 2018, play, right now, download, ps4

Don’t get too excited now. This isn’t just another Until Dawn experience but in VR. Rush of Blood is actually an on-rails shooter. You’ll be guided through a number of fairground-esque Ghost Train tracks as recognizable foes and enemies from the original title try and make sure you don’t reach the end.

As an on-rails, lightgun game, Rush of Blood is some serious fun, and its relatively short duration is helped out by the inclusion of online leaderboards so you can spend hours outdoing your friends and laughing as they fail. If you were lucky enough to get it for free from PS Plus a few months ago, there should be nothing stopping you.

Sprint Vector

best, psvr, vr, games, best psvr games, 2018, play, right now, download, ps4

Sprint Vector is pretty unique in what it brings to the PSVR table. This is essentially a racing game, tasking players with overcoming obstacles, leaping huge jumps, and sprinting their way to glory. This is VR, though, so it’s not just a case of pressing some buttons on your controller.

Sprint Vector has you swinging your arms rather maniacally in the middle of your play area as you speed down the straight, frantically reaching upward for that next handhold on the cliff, or stretching your arms out as you fly through the air. It makes for a great spectator sport, but you won’t care when you cross that finish line first. It’s a workout, sure, but there’s nothing else quite like it for PSVR right now.

Accounting+

best, psvr, vr, games, best psvr games, 2018, play, right now, download, ps4

Accounting+ is not for the fainthearted. Not because it’s incredibly challenging or anything, but because it’s over-the-top, bizarre, and completely crazy on a whole other level.

This is a comedic adventure where most of your enjoyment is going to come from listening to the weird and often hilarious dialog. And oh boy is there a lot. Accounting+ isn’t going to be for everyone. Some may find its crude humor a little too much, but not us. If you’re looking for a couple hours of good laughs, the low admission fee for this one is well worth it. Go in blind, and you’ll come out with a smile on your face for sure.
