First things first, Patrick is who you need to play as to stun enemies. That’s because Patrick can pick up stunned enemies and throw them at things, just as he can with fruit. Therefore, in some situations, you’ll want to stun enemies, pick them up, and throw them at switches so that doors open and you can grab the dirty sock or golden spatula that’s hiding behind it.

One of Patrick’s moves is his Butt Stomp. To do it, you jump up into the air and press circle if you’re on PS4 (B on Xbox One or A on Switch) to slam back down on the ground.

Sometimes, rather than defeating the robot, Patrick will stun them with the move, seeing them lie on the ground without moving. You can then go up to it, press circle/B to pick them up, and then press it again to throw it at something when then little circle appears as the target.

Since you cannot throw robots with Spongebob, there’s no need to stun robots with him. When you’re playing as Patrick though, it can be a very helpful thing to do and it’s not really explained in the game when it’s good to know early on.
