As the grandson or granddaughter of the mighty Spartan king, you’ll bear his trusty spear. Here’s how to upgrade the Spear of Leonidas in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.
First and foremost, the spear is how you’re going to pull off a lot of neat stuff. For one, there are the assassinations. You won’t have a hidden blade this time around – as the story takes place too far in the past – but you’ll have that pointy stick of yours! Hover overhead of enemies or right behind them and you’ll be able to assassinate them. Neat substitute to still make this an AC game, eh?
Now, to upgrade it, you need to continue through the main story a bit. Eventually, you’ll come across this grand, ancient Isu structure where you’ll be able to enter through the use of your spear. That’s where you’ll go to upgrade it every single time that you can.
As for actually upgrading it, you need to get a hold of some artifact fragments. These are gotten from goin’ through the cultist web and killing them. Each time you do, you’ll receive a fragment.
Sometimes you’ll even get them from the story, too.
Every single level will grant your spear more power and allow you to actually buy skills that pertain to it within your own skill tree. Past a certain point of upgrading your skills, for example, you won’t be able to continue. Not unless you’ve gotten that upgrade on your pointy ol’ stick.
Oh, and every time you go to purchase the upgrade for the family heirloom, you’re going to be spending more and more fragments. Keep that in mind, you’re going to have to become a cult hunter if you want to get the last level on it.
Of course, doing so nets you a trophy or achievement in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. Well worth it, right?
