How to Unlock Extreme and Insane Difficulty Settings

To unlock the Extreme and Insane difficulty options, you’ll need to complete all four campaigns. That means you’ll need to beat all three levels for Priority One, Giants In The Earth, The Gift Of Fire and The Only Way To Be Sure. If you want to complete the campaigns as quickly as possible, you can go ahead and beat them all on the Casual difficulty setting. Once you’ve beaten all of the four campaigns, you’ll unlock the Extreme and Insane difficulty settings.

The harder settings don’t just add more hit points to your enemies. In fact, the difficulty affects a lot of the overall game mechanics. Specifically, on the harder difficulty options there’s less time to revive downed teammates, it takes longer to revive downed teammates and each player can only be revived a certain number of times.

Furthermore, your ammo reserves are reduced, you’ll find fewer first aid kits and the elite xenomorphs can now potentially one-hit kill you. Seriously, if you’re not prepared for these harder difficulty options, you’ll get your butt handed to you. You’ve been warned!
