Abzu: How Long It Is

This article is over 8 years old and may contain outdated information

Abzu sees you exploring the great underwater unknown and restoring areas of darkness into flourishing ecosystems. While the journey through this beautiful underwater world is an atmospheric and soothing experience, many players are wondering just how long they’ll be spending in the depths of the ocean.

It took us about two and a half hours to finish our playthrough of Abzu. This included us spending a little bit of time to explore and take in our surroundings, although we must admit that we didn’t explore every nook and cranny of this underwater world. If you were to be particularly thorough during your playthrough with Abzu, you may be able to stretch the amount of time you get from it up to about four hours, but we’re talking a pretty extensive playthrough to get that kind of time.

Ultimately, the amount of time you spend with Abzu depends on what you want to get out of it. If you’re there simply to blast through the game’s story (though we really advise you soak up the game’s atmosphere and do some exploring), then you’ll come in probably at the two hour mark or maybe just under. If, like us, you want to explore as and when you feel there may be something of interest hidden away you’re looking at the two and a half hour mark, and those who want to leave no stone unturned will probably clock in around four hours.
