Free Up Space on Your Hard Drive

Ways to Prepare for Mass Effect Legendary Edition

Digital or physical, pre-order or pick it up on the day, regardless of how you decide to pick up Mass Effect Legendary Edition, one thing remains the same: This game is gonna take up a ton of room on your hard drive.

Whether you’re on Xbox, PlayStation, or PC, the space opera trilogy will take up no less than 80 GB of space. If you’re planning on playing through the game on PS5, that’s a fairly big chunk of your internal SSD. Though, thankfully, the game will run directly from an external drive with it being a PS4 title.

Either way, for the best experience possible, you want to be installing the Mass Effect Legendary Edition on your primary storage drive. SSD speeds are so much faster, and you’ll likely notice the difference in terms of the game’s performance, too.

Delete that old game or two that you’ve been saying you’ll go back and play and make way for Commander Shephard and the rest of the N7 squad. It’s time to save the world!

Preorder and/or Preload the Game

If your hype levels are at an all-time high to be back with your bestest bud Wrex (don’t @ me), then you’ll want to make sure you’ve got the game preordered and, if you’re buying digitally, preloaded.

For those that prefer their games on disc, then you’ll want to make sure you’ve hit up Amazon or your preferred local retailer and got a copy on pre-order. Mass Effect is one of the most popular game series out there, and so it’s just not worth taking the risk if you’re wanting to play on day one.

You can start playing at the strike of midnight if you’re buying digitally, however. All you need to do is preorder the game from your preferred platform’s digital storefront and you’ll be able to begin preloading it from today. That way, you can get all 80-odd gigs downloaded and the day one patch applied so you can start playing as soon as release day rolls around.

Get Hyped Over the Graphics Comparison Trailer

Ways to Prepare for Mass Effect Legendary Edition

Back when each installment in the trilogy first released, the games looked absolutely great. It was rare to see environments and character models look quite so impressive. By today’s standards, though, they’re a little bit… lacking.

Of course, the headline attraction in Mass Effect Legendary Edition is having each and every one of those games remastered with reworked textures, improved lighting, 4K assets, remade base models, improved particle effects, and generally better-looking visuals all-round.

All of that might sound somewhat minor, but it’s only when you watch the official graphics comparison trailer (included above) that the scale of those changes can truly be appreciated. Our boy Garrus has never looked so good!

Stock Up on Supplies

No extended play session is complete without some fuel to power you through. So make sure you make a special trip out to the shop so you can pick up all the snacks and drinks you need.

We’re not fussy here with what snack you choose to pick up. Some like their energy drinks, candy, and chips, while others like to go the healthier route with carrot sticks and bottled water. Whatever fuels your fun, we’re on board. Just make sure you’re hydrating regularly and taking the time to eat proper meals, too!

Spend the Next Few Days Listening to the Soundtrack

As I write up this feature, I’ve currently got the trilogy’s soundtrack thumping away in my headphones. The intense synthy beats from Battle at Eden Prime powering me through each sentence and the high-pitched beeps and boops of Mordin getting me all pumped up, ready to fight the good fight with the N7 squad all over again.

If you’re looking to get yourself suitably in the mood for this sci-fi epic, then look no further than the video above. The complete 4 hours and 8 minutes soundtrack is the perfect way to power you through these last few days of the week and edge you that little bit closer to the weekend and plenty of time-saving the galaxy from impending doom.

Ensure Your Controller/s Are Fully Charged & Ready to Go

Ways to Prepare for Mass Effect Legendary Edition

There’s nothing worse than getting that brand-new game, popping the disc in, waiting for the day-one updates to complete and then finding your controller is running low on battery.

Sure, the charging cable may just reach your sofa, but you can’t kick back in comfort. Plus, you know your dog/ cat/ girlfriend/ pet goat/ parent/ sibling is going to go flying over the cable when they walk past, tossing your console into the air.

Don’t risk it kids. It ain’t worth it. Take that extra minute or two on Thursday night to get your controllers all charged up. If you’ve got two, even better. You can have one ready and waiting to switch out when the other dies.
