PS Plus Free Games Predictions

Metro 2033 Redux

It’s almost time for the official announcement from Sony for the first PS Plus free game inclusions for 2020. For the current month of December 2019, those free games include Titanfall 2, and Monster Energy Supercross: The Game.

For January 2020 however, we suspect Metro 2033 Redux would be a likely inclusion for a couple of reasons.

Metro 2033 Redux, or Metro: Redux, is a two-part remake of Metro: 2033 and Metro: Last Light for next-gen consoles on Xbox One, PS4, and PC. Metro: Last Light has actually already been included on PS Plus before back in February 2014 for PS3, so it makes sense for Sony to consider a remake of the game for it’s PS Plus list a few years later on its newer console.

Not too long ago, Metro 2033 Redux was also offered for free on the Epic Games Store in September 2019. Then in February 2019, Metro 2033 Redux was offered for free as a pre-order bonus on Xbox One alongside the release of Metro: Exodus, and finally in October 2018, Metro: 2033 was free on Steam for a limited time.

Metro: Redux’s developer 4A games is clearly conformable offing this title for free on other platforms, so it’s a natural next step for it to be free for PS4 as well at some point.

The Smaller Game – We Happy Few

PS Plus Free Games Predictions

Usually a smaller, indie title makes the PS Plus list every month as well, and for January 2020, We Happy Few from developer Compulsion Games seems to be a likely contender.

We Happy Few had a lot of hype before its release in 2018, but kind of fizzled when it finally did hit the shelves with some complaints about consistent glitches.

We Happy Few is still fully priced on the Sony Store, but these kind of under-performing indies very often make it to PS Plus usually a year or so after release. Examples include Rime in February 2018, Mighty No. 9 in March 2018, and Drawn to Death in April 2017.

It’s also worth noting that Compulsion’s only other game Contrast was offered for free on PS Plus way back in November 2013, so the developer has shown interest in PS Plus in the past as well.

Make sure to check back in the next week or so for the official release of the free games PS Plus list from Sony itself.
