Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX
PS Plus Free Games Predictions For February 2019
Every month, those who subscribe to Sony’s online gaming subscription are also gifted a few free games each month to sweeten the deal a bit. There is also usually one larger AAA title to headline the list to keep players happy.
For February 2019, we wouldn’t be surprised to see the Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX collection being offered with all the hype of Kingdom Hearts III releasing this month.
This collection includes Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories, Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix, Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix, and Kingdom Hearts Re:coded.
Both Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days and Kingdom Hearts Re:coded include HD cut-scenes for the first time in this bundle as well.
While this collection released in March 2017, it has gone on sale in the past for as little as $19.99. It also is a PS4 exclusive, and often Sony opts to include those in its free games lists as there is no worry about competing prices with the title on other platforms.
However, the biggest inclination that Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX could be on PS Plus is simply because an influx of people will be either returning to the Kingdom Hearts story or being introduced to it for the first time with the release of Kingdom Hearts III on Jan. 25.
Some might argue Sony wouldn’t want to offer the collection for free since more people might be inclined to buy it.
However, the fact that these titles are prequels to the events in Kingdom Hearts III and their plots are not mainline and instead follow the Dark Seeker Saga points to the likely probability most players would not purchase this collection after finishing Kingdom Hearts III.
Instead, they could be pleasantly surprised with an offering of six sub-plot Kingdom Hearts stories to enjoy for free which would only spurn more series support from those new to Kingdom Hearts.
Check out page two where we also consider a couple possible indie inclusions for next month, most likely PS Vita titles for a couple reasons.
Indies/Small Titles
PS Plus Free Games Predictions For February 2019
For some indie inclusions that could make the PS Plus list for February 2019, we have to keep in mind Sony has announced that as of March 2019 games for PS3 and PS Vita will no longer be included for free on PS Plus.
Therefore, it’s pretty likely in these last few months before this happens, most of the indies offered for free will be for those two platforms.
Our first guess is Salt and Sanctuary from two-person studio Ska Studios. In it you play as a sailor stuck on an island, and using over 600 weapons with 2D combat you have to fight your way through labyrinthine passageways and menacing dungeons in this uncharted territory.
Salt and Sanctuary is an extremely well-received indie that released back in May 2016, and it is honestly surprising that it has not been included on PS Plus yet.
Not to mention that is it available on both PS Vita and PS4 as well. Sony would be killing two birds with one stone with this choice, and it might as well be included now so Vita players can enjoy it for free as well.
Another possible smaller title is either Yomawari: Night Alone or sequel Yomawari: Midnight Shadows (hopefully both!) for a number of similar reasons.
While Night Alone only released on PS Vita for Sony, Midnight Shadows is available on both PS4 and PS Vita. For some reason, these two games have yet to be offered in a bundle despite that being an easy grouping.
However, if we had to choose between the two it is more likely Night Alone would be included next month specifically because there is little time before March when it can no longer be offered at all. Whereas Midnight Shadows could still be on PS Plus for its PS4 version later on.
Both titles play exceptionally well on PS Vita, and the game uses a cool mechanic where your handheld will vibrate when the character is scared and near a ghostly yōkai to indicate you should hide immediately.
This makes the game feel super intense, and soon your own heartbeat will quicken alongside the protagonists as you get drawn into the story.
Both Night Alone and Midnight Shadows have been very well received. With the first releasing in October 2016 and the second in October 2017, it’s been long enough that it’s not out of character for Sony to include either (or both!) of these cutesy-horror titles on PS Plus.
Make sure to check back in a week or so when Sony will release the official list of PS Plus free games for February 2019.
