The Bigger Game – BioShock: The Collection
Every month, members of the Xbox Live Gold platform are gifted some free games through the Games with Gold promotion.
For the previous month of November 2019, those games included Sherlock Holmes: The Devil’s Daughter, The Final Station, Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter, and Joy Ride Turbo.
The official reveal of Games with Gold free games for subscribers in December 2019 is right around the corner, and in the meantime we have some predictions as to what those free games might be.
Usually one larger game headlines the list, and we suspect BioShock: The Collection would be a perfect contender.
BioShock: The Collection includes all three titles in the series: BioShock, BioShock 2, and BioShock Infinite. It also comes with all the single-player DLC including the BioShock 2’s Minerva’s Den DLC, and BioShock Infinite’s Burial at Sea episode packs, Clash in the Clouds add-on pack, and Columbia’s Finest pack.
Titles from developer 2K games are very frequently offered on Games with Gold. Some examples include Bioshock Infinite in March 2015, Mafia II in May 2015, Borderlands in March 2016, WWE 2K16 in August 2016, Borderlands 2 in March 2017, and much more.
BioShock: The Collection came to Xbox One back in September 2016. Usually Microsoft gives AAA games approximately three years on the console before it starts to consider offering it for free on Games with Gold, so the timing seems right for this choice.
The Smaller Game – Overlord: Fellowship of Evil
Along with a more well-known games, usually a smaller more indie-esque release makes the Games with Gold monthly list as well.
For December 2019, it seems likely action RPG Overlord: Fellowship of Evil will be included for a couple reasons.
Firstly, Overlord: Fellowship of Evil is developed by British game studio Codemasters, which has had a few of its games on Games with Gold in the past. These include F1 2013 in May 2015, Dirt 3 in November 2015, and Dirt: Showdown in January 2016.
Secondly, Overlord: Fellowship of Evil is currently on sale for only $6 for Gold members off from $24. When a game is on sale right before the announcement, it’s usually a good indicator it might be one of the free games of the month.
Make sure to check back in the next few weeks for Microsoft’s reveal of its official Games with Gold line-up for December 2019.
