Xbox Games With Gold

With Battlefield V coming up very soon, now’s a great time to catch up on Battlefield 1 if you haven’t already. DICE’s World War I epic is one of the free games on offer via Microsoft’s Games With Gold program for November 2018, and it’s most definitely worth your time. Along with all of Battlefield’s usual multiplayer offerings, the campaign itself is also well-done, and does a decent job of exploring personal (if somewhat cliched) stories set during that period of time.

And if you’ve already beaten Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, but want more Assassin’s Creed in your life, the original game is up for grabs as well. Most series fans would point to Assassin’s Creed 2 and the Ezio games as the best ones in the series, but the original had a great sense of atmosphere and intrigue that hasn’t been replicated in the franchise since. Altair is a compelling protagonist in his own right, and while the gameplay doesn’t hold up quite as well today, it’s still very playable and is worth a look if you haven’t checked it out yet.

Outside of that, Gold members will also get access to Race the Sun, along with Visceral’s action-adventure, hack-and-slash title, Dante’s Inferno.

PS Plus

Sony’s offerings for PS Plus members in November 2018 are pretty decent as well. Yakuza Kiwami is one of the headlining titles for this month, and since it’s the first entry in the popular series, this is a great entry point for any players who might’ve been too intimidated by it in the past.

Yakuza Kiwami is a wacky, over-the-top, open world action RPG that puts players in control of Kazuma Kiryu, a badass dude who solves problems with his fists.

On the flip side, Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition is also among the free games on offer this month. Developed by People Can Fly, Bulletstorm is a first-person shooter with an impeccable sense of style that rewards players for pulling off outlandish kills and stunts. Full Clip Edition also includes some bonus content, and it’s great for anyone just looking to pass the time with some mindless, violent fun.

The Jackbox Party Pack is always worth looking at, especially for folks who enjoy party games at social gatherings, while Burly Men at Sea is a humorous point-and-click adventure game that you should be able to complete in a day.

Steam

steam, free games

Every month, Steam gets a whole slew of free games that you can check out. Most are probably shovelware, but every now and again, you might find a couple of gems. Idle Kingdom Builder is one such gem we’ve found for November 2018, and as the title suggests, this is a kingdom building game that tasks you with building a kingdom from the ground up, expanding your territory, and making sure you’re managing everything properly.

Nonogram – Master’s Legacy will also be releasing this month. It’s basically Picross, where you have to solve conceptually simple number puzzles in order to form a shape onscreen. It doesn’t sound like much, but it’s easily one of the most relaxing and chill games you can play in your spare time. And hey, if it’s free, we’ll take it.

Virtual Soccer Zone and Cars Arena are also releasing as free-to-play titles on Steam in November. The former is a VR soccer game where you can be either a goalie or a striker, while the latter basically just looks like Rocket League, except you can destroy each other’s cars in a Team Deathmatch-like game mode. Brutal.
