Looking out for the little guys.

A Warrior of Light’s work is never done, and helping Eorzea’s various peoples to rebuild their tribes is just as important as quelling empires and killing gods. Here are all the Tribal Quests in Final Fantasy XIV, explained to make what they entail and provide a little clearer.

Every Beast Tribe in Final Fantasy XIV

There are currently a total of 17 beast tribes to ally yourself with in Final Fantasy XIV. A Realm Reborn has 5 tribes, while each expansion has 3. Here’s a complete list of every beast tribe in the game as of Final Fantasy XIV Endwalker:

  • A Realm Reborn: Amalj’aa, Ixali, Kobold, Sahagin, Sylph (Level 41-50)
  • Heavensward: Vanu Vanu, Vath, Moogle (Level 51-60)
  • Stormblood: Kojin, Ananta, Namazu (Level 61-70)
  • Shadowbringers: Pixie, Qitari, Dwarves (Level 71-80)
  • Endwalker: Arkasodara, Omicron, Loporrits (Level 81-90)

FFXIV’s Beast Tribes work the same way as many other reputation systems in other MMOs. You’ll have to complete a host of daily quests for each one to increase your reputation within each tribe. Alongside the daily quests, each tribe also has its own series of main quests.

Here is a list of each reputation rank:

  1. Neutral
  2. Recognized
  3. Friendly
  4. Trusted
  5. Respected
  6. Honored
  7. Sworn

A further two ranks, Bloodsworn and Allied, are attainable for some beast tribes after you’ve achieved their max ranks through daily quests.

As you progress through each rank, you’ll learn more about each tribe, unlock more daily quests, and of course, gain access to some sweet rewards.

Each of the tribes has its own currency, which you can view in the Currency log. These currencies can be spent at the merchants within the camps of each tribe.

Most of the beast tribes offer quests for combat jobs, but a select few focus on crafting and gathering jobs. While tribal quests are entirely optional content, they provide a lot of lore that enhances the main story quest.

You can do tribal quests in any order, and tackle as many as you like at one time. However, as you have a daily limit of 12 tribal quests (and a maximum of 3 quests per day on all but the ARR tribes), it’s advisable to focus on only 4 tribes at a time as it will take some weeks to max out your reputation.

When it comes to getting your daily tribal quests done as quickly as possible, one of the best things you can do is to make sure you have all your Aether Currents unlocked so that you can use your flying mount in that area.

A Realm Reborn Beast Tribes

There are 5 beast tribes in Final Fantasy XIV’s base game, A Realm Reborn. These tribes can only be unlocked after beating the level 41 main scenario quest In Pursuit of the Past. Here’s everything you need to know about each of them.

Amalj’aa (Combat)

Amalj'aa in FFXIV

The Amalj’aa are a tribe of lizardly beastmen who worship the fire primal Ifrit. To begin earning reputation with them, you’ll first need to beat the level 43 feature quest Peace for Thanalan. You can pick up this quest by talking to Swift in Ul’dah – Steps of Nald (X:8.4, Y:8.9).

This quest will send you to Hamujj Gah, the Amalj’aa leader who resides in the Ring of Ash in Southern Thanalan.

The maximum rank you can attain with the Amalj’aa through their daily quests is Trusted. Achieving this rank requires a total of 720 reputation points.

The Amalj’aa Vendor accepts the Steel Amalj’ok currency and sells yellow, blue, brown, and purple dyes. You can also purchase the Wind-up Amalj’aa and Founder minions, and the fire-breathing Cavalry Drake mount.

Ixali (Crafting)

Although the Ixali are usually known to be an aggressive tribe who worship the primal Garuda, the Ixali tribal quests have you helping a more peaceful group of self-proclaimed outcasts named the Ehcatl Nine. To start the Ixali tribal quests, accept the feature quest A Bad Bladder from Scarlet in New Gridania (X:9.9, Y:11.4)

The Ehcatl Nine are led by Sezul Totoloc in the North Shroud. As they’re attempting to build an airship, you’re tasked with helping them craft and deliver items rather than the usual combat missions requested of most other tribes.

The Ixali daily area, Ehcatl, is located in North Shroud.

The Koblod are a race of rather pitiful, though frequently abrasive mole-like beastmen. Their tribal quests will really make you feel sympathetic toward them. To get started, find Trachraet in Limsa Lominsa’s Upper Decks (X:12.7, Y:12.7) and accept the quest Highway Robbery.

The particularly helpless band of Kobolds you’ll be helping is the 789th Order. The 789th Order Dig zone is located in Outer La Noscea.

Sahagin (Combat)

A mainstay in the Final Fantasy series, the Sahagin is an aquatic, trident-carrying beast tribe. Travel to the Limsa Lominsa Upper Decks and talk to R’ashaht Rhiki to accept the level 44 feature quest They Came from the Deep which will unlock the Sahagin daily quests.

The Sahagin daily zone is Novv’s Nursery, found in Halfstone, Western La Noscea.

Sylph (Combat)

Sylph in FFXIV

The easiest way to describe the Sylph is that they look like plant fairies. They live deep within the woods of Gridania. Their beast tribe quests begin with Seeking Solace, a level 42 feature quest that you can get from Vorsaile Heuloix in New Gridania (X: 9.7, Y:11.1).

Building a new home away from the Sylphlands after the summoning of Ramuh, the Sylph daily zone is Little Solace. This area is found in Nine Ivies in East Shroud.

The maximum rank you can attain with the Sylph through their daily quests is Trusted. Achieving this rank requires a total of 720 reputation points.

Sylphic Goldleaf is the chosen currency of the Sylph dailies. You can use it to buy green and brown dyes, and Wind-up Sylph and Violet minions. If you ever spent your time wandering around the game’s low-level areas and considered what it would be like to mount a Goobbue, you’re in luck, because the Laurel Goobbue mount can be all yours for 120,000 gil once you reach Trusted rank.

Heavensward Beast Tribes

There are 3 beast tribes in Final Fantasy XIV’s first expansion, Heavensward.

The maximum rank you can attain with all Heavensward beast tribes through their daily quests is Sworn. Achieving this rank requires a total of 1730 reputation points. Following this, you can complete each tribe’s main quests to reach Bloodsworn rank.

Once you have all 3 tribes at Bloodsworn, you will be able to tackle the Heavensward Allied Tribal Quests to push each tribe’s rank to Allied, unlocking further rewards.

The insect-like Gnath are all linked together in Onemind, sharing each other’s thoughts, the Vath are formed of those who have disconnected from this collective. Before you can unlock the Vath beast tribe dailies you will have to have beaten the MSQ quest Lord of the Hive.

After you’ve beaten this, you can talk to the Vath Storyteller in The Dravanian Forelands (X: 24.0, Y:19.7) to unlock the dailies via the quest The Naming of Vath. The Vath daily area is located at Loth ast Vath in The Dravanian Forelands.

Moogle (Crafting)

Perhaps second only to the Chocobo when it comes to Final Fantasy iconography, Moogle’s finally get their moment in the spotlight. Unlocking their daily zone is a little more time-consuming than most of the other beast tribes though.

After beating the level 56 Main Scenario Quest He Who Would Not Be Denied, you will need to beat a series of 20 side quests, beginning with A Pebble for Your Thoughts, and ending with Tricks and Stones. You can get the A Pebble for Your Thoughts quest from Mogleo in The Churning Mists (X:29.7, Y:35.3). Tricks and Stones is given to you by the Seething Stonemason at The Churning Mists (X:27.2, Y:34.5).

The Moogle daily zone is Bahrr Lehs in The Churning Mists. Moogle beast tribe quests involve crafting rather than combat, so you will need to have Disciples of the Hand skills.

One of the neatest rewards you can pick up from the Moogle vendor Mogmul Mogbelly, is a pair of cute Meandering Mog Slippers. You can also buy the popular Cloud Mallow mount which looks as though your character is hanging onto a giant ball of cotton.

Reaching Sworn rank will also unlock the Piecing Together the Past quest which grants the Moogle Dance emote.

Stormblood Beast Tribes

There are 3 beast tribes in Final Fantasy XIV’s second expansion, Stormblood. You can find everything you need to know about each of them below.

The maximum rank you can attain with all Stormblood beast tribes through their daily quests is Sworn. Achieving this rank requires a total of 1730 reputation points. Following this, you can complete each tribe’s main quests to reach Bloodsworn rank.

Once you have all 3 tribes at Bloodsworn, you will be able to tackle the Stormblood Allied Tribal Quests to push each tribe’s rank to Allied, unlocking further rewards.

Kojin (Combat)

Ninja Kojin! These sword-wielding anthropomorphic turtles might vaguely remind you of a famous group of teenagers. Though they’re split into two tribes, in their daily quests, you’ll be helping the pacifist Kojin.

The Kojin beast tribe quests can only be unlocked after you’ve beaten level 63 main scenario quest Tide Goes in, Imperials Go Out. After that, you can complete the feature quest Heaven-sent given to you by a Vexed Villager in The Ruby Sea (X:6.8, Y:13.3).

The Ananta are a somewhat horrifying half-snake people. You’ll be helping Captain Alpa and The Velodyna Gatekeepers as they work to emancipate Gyr Abania.

Unlocking the Ananta beast tribe requires a little more effort than most others. To begin with, you will need to have beaten the level 67 main scenario quest The Silence of the Gods. Following this, you will need to follow the feature quest chain starting with The Hidden Truth given to you by Serpent Marshal Brookstone in The Fringes (X: 9.2, Y:10.8).

Follow this quest line until you have beaten the quest The Rose Blooms Twice. After this, you’ll be able to accept the Brooding Broodmother quest from M’rahz Nunh in The Fringes (X:30.2, Y:25.7) which will unlock the Ananta beast tribe dailies.

The Ananta daily area is at Castellum Volodyna in The Fringes.

The Ananta tribe has more desirable rewards than most, including:

  • False Nails which can be colored and glamoured (Friendly)
  • Charmed emote (Respected)
  • Ananta personal housing vendors (Honored)
  • Marid mount, which looks like an elephant (Sworn)
  • True Griffin mount (Bloodsworn)

Namazu (Crafting & Gathering)

Namazu in FFXIV

The diminutive Namazu are so lovable — how could you not want to help them out? They’re another beast tribe who require that you partake in crafting dailies, and for the first time, they introduced gathering dailies.

Because of this, you’ll need to have level 60 in a Disciple of the Hand or Land job. You’ll then need to complete two short featured quest lines. The first of these begins with the Courage the Cowardly Lupin quest from Fukudo in Yanxia (X:30.9, Y:17.8). The second starts with the Perchance to Hanami quest given to you by Ochimi in Yanxia (X: 30.3, Y:18.3).

After this, you’ll be ready to take on the One Size Fits All quest from Seigetsu the Enlightened in The Azim Steppe (5.9,23.4). With this complete, you can finally take on the Namazu crafting and gathering dailies.

The Namazu daily area is found at Dhoro Iloh, towards the west of The Azim Steppe.

At Respected rank, you’ll be able to purchase Namazu vendors for your home. At Honored, the Yol Dance emote becomes available from Gyosho. The Namazu Bell necklace and Mikoshi mount can be yours at Bloodsworn, while the deeply cursed Namazu Mask is up for grabs at Allied rank.

Shadowbringers Beast Tribes

There are 3 beast tribes in Final Fantasy XIV’s third expansion, Shadowbringers.

The maximum rank you can attain with all Stormblood beast tribes through their daily quests is Sworn. Achieving this rank requires a total of 1730 reputation points. Following this, you can complete each tribe’s main quests to reach Bloodsworn rank.

Unlike the other expansions, there are no Shadowbringers Allied Tribal Quests to push each tribe’s rank to Allied.

Pixie (Combat)

Pink Pixie in FFXIV

The pixie realm of Il Mheg is one of the most out-there zones in the game. In the pixie tribal quests, you’ll get to explore even more of their strange lore and lands as you dive into the mystery of the Garden of Dreams.

To unlock the pixie tribal quests, you will need to have beaten the level 73 main scenario quest The Wheel Turns. After this, you can speak to Tyr Beq aka the Pink Pixie in The Crystarium (X:13.1, Y:15.3), and accept the Manic Pixie Dream Realm quest which will unlock the dailies.

The daily area for the Pixies is found in Lydha Lran in Il Mheg.

You can spend any Fae Fancies that you gain from the dailies with Jul Oul. The items Jul sells, include a Wind-up Pixie minion, and the Portly Pixie mount. Thus proving that, in Final Fantasy XIV at least, pigs really do fly.

Qitari (Gathering)

Qitari in FFXIV

The Qitari are the first tribal quest to have all gathering daily quests. As such, you’ll need to have a Disciple of the Land job if you want to assist this tribe of subterranean explorers.

You’ll need to complete two short quest lines before unlocking the Qitari dailies. These start with the following quests:

  • The Great Deceiver from Valan in The Rak’tika Greatwood (X:19.8, Y:27.6)
  • Stand on Ceremony from Lanille in The Rak’tika Greatwood (X:31.3, Y:16.9)

Following this, you can take the Protectors of the Wood quest from Phyna in The Rak’tika Greatwood (X:30.7, Y:20.2). Finally, complete the mission The Stewards of Note from the Concerned Mother in The Rak’tika Greatwood (X:21.0, Y:27.6) to unlock the Qitari dailies.

The Qitari daily area is found at the east of The Rak’tika Greatwood in a location called Hopl’s Stopple.

You can purchase Serpent of Ronka minions from Yuqurl Manl in the Qitari daily area, as well as a Great Vessel of Ronka mount which kind of looks like a giant bee stuck in a pot. Something original to ride around on I guess *shrug*.

Dwarf (Crafting)

No MMO is complete without dwarves, and in the Shadowbringers expansion, FFXIV finally got its own race of bearded inventors. You’ll be using your own crafting skills in these daily quests to help the dwarves with their latest and greatest invention yet.

Again, you’ll need to complete two short quest lines before unlocking the dwarves’ dailies. These start with the following quests:

  • Village of Woe from Eueliss in Kholusia (X:15.3, Y:28.6)
  • A Disagreeable Dwarf from Beott in Kholusia (X:12.4, Y:9.2)

After that, complete the quest Ronitt to the Rescue from Ronitt in Kholusia (X:13.5, Y:8.3), and finally, It’s Dwarfin’ Time from the Affable Townsdwarf in Kholusia (X:15.7, Y:30.3) to unlock the dwarf daily quests.

The dwarf daily area is to the east of Lakeland at an area named Watts’s Anvil.

Earn the ability to summon your own dwarf minion by purchasing the Lalinator 5.H0 minion from Mizutt, and when you reach Sworn ranking, buy your very own tank mount, the Rolling Tankard. Best of all, reach Bloodsworn status to unlock the adorable Lali Hop emote.

Endwalker Beast Tribes

There are 3 beast tribes in Final Fantasy XIV’s fourth expansion, Endwalker. You can find everything you need to know about each of them below.

The maximum rank you can attain with all Endwalker beast tribes through their daily quests is Sworn. Achieving this rank requires a total of 1730 reputation points. Following this, you can complete each tribe’s main quests to reach Bloodsworn rank.

Once you have all 3 tribes at Bloodsworn, you will be ready to tackle the Endwalker Allied Tribal Quests when they arrive in the upcoming Patch 6.51.

Arkasodara (Combat)

Arkasodara in FFXIV

How could you not want to help out Endwalker’s friendly race of elephant people? In an unexpected turn, the Arkasodara tribal quests have you helping out a group of hippo cart racers. A bit of light-hearted fun, then, after saving the entire cosmos.

Once you’ve finished the Endwalker expansion’s main story you’ll be able to go ahead and grab the Hippos Born to Run quest from Kancana at Thavnair (X:25.3, Y:31.2) and begin the Arkasodara tribal quests.

The Arkasodara daily area is in the Svana area of Thavanair.

In return for assisting the tribe, you can purchase the Wind-up Arkasodara minion and your very own Hippo Cart mount.

Omicron (Gathering)

Omicron in FFXIV

From elephant people to a race of machines from the distant past – that’s Endwalker for you. The Omicron tribal quests have you gathering materials to help build a new cafe in Ultima Thule.

To get started, you need to have first beaten Endwalker’s main story, then the feature quest Where No Loporrit Has Gone Before, which you can get from Jammingway in Old Sharlayan (X:11, Y:13.8). After this you will be able to accept the quest The Café at the End of the Universe from Jammingway at Ultima Thule (X:25.4, Y:26.3) to begin the Omicron tribal quest.

The Omicron daily area is on the floating island, A-4 Research in Ultime Thule.

The two main rewards you can purchase from the vendor N-0598 in Ultima Thule, are the Lumini minion, and the Miw Miisv mount. The mount in particular has proven very popular with players, as it allows you to float around inside of a glittering jellyfish-type creature.

Loporrits (Crafting)

Loporrit in FFXIV

Now that you’ve relieved the Loporrits of their burden of transforming the moon into a new home for humanity, the buns are looking for a new purpose in life. That’s where you step in.

Before you can get started with the Loporrit tribal quests you will need to have beaten the Endwalker main story, and a small series of feature quests. These begin with Name That Way, available from Knockingway in Mare Lamentorum (X:22.0, Y:10.8). Once you’ve completed these quests you’ll be able to accept the quest Must Be Dreaming(way) from, you guessed it, Dreamingway at Old Sharlayan (X:11.7, Y:10.9).

The Loporrit daily area is at Hoper’s Hold, which can be reached from the ground floor of Bestways Burrow.

In return for putting your crafting skills to good use in the Loporrit daily quests, you can buy rewards including your very own Loporrit personal housing vendors, and Moon-hopper mount. Best of all perhaps, is the Ear Wiggle emote that you receive for finishing the Loporrit tribe’s main quests.

All Allied Tribal Quests in FFXIV

After reaching max rank with each expansion’s full group of tribal quests, you can take on a new quest series called Allied Tribal Quests. These stories have you bringing together each expansion’s tribes in one satisfying conclusion, and offer up more rewards.

The Allied Tribal Quest for A Realm Reborn begins with the Call of the Wild quest which is given to you by your Grand Company representative. These are:

  • Twin Adder: Scarlet at New Gridania (9.9,11.4)
  • Maelstrom: Trachraet at Limsa Lominsa Upper Decks (12.7,12.7)
  • Immortal Flames: Mimio Mio at Ul’dah – Steps of Nald (8.6,9.4)

The reward for completing the Realm Reborn Allied Tribal Quest is the Sable Death Mask.

The Heavensward Allied Tribal Quest begins with When Good Dragons Go Bad, which you can pick up from Drydox in Idyllshire (X:6.9, Y:7.2). Your reward for finishing the Heavensward Allied Tribal Quest is the Moonlift Dance emote.

The Stormblood Allied Tribal Quest starts with The Ananta Maid’s Tail quest from East Aldenard Trading Company Assistant at Kugane (13.1,9.7). The reward for finishing the Stormblood Allied Tribal Quest is the Gratuity emote.

There was no Alliance Tribal Quest for the Shadowbringers expansion. They will, however, return for the Endwalker expansion. The Endwalker Allied Tribal Quest is due for release with Patch 6.55, which is currently slated for January 2024.
