How to Upgrade Crown of Sorrow in Destiny 2

Destiny 2‘s current Season of the Haunted is now live, and as usual, the grind to increase your Power level continues. In addition to the usual methods of equipping higher level gear, Destiny 2 has, in recent years, added a season-specific method of meta progression, and in the Season of the Haunted, it entails upgrading the Crown of Sorrow. With that in mind, lets take a look at how to upgrade the Crown of Sorrow in Destiny 2.

Upgrading Crown of Sorrow in Destiny 2

The Crown of Sorrow vendor can be found at the H.E.L.M destination (If you are facing the central Vanguard Operations table from where you warp in, it can be found to the left side of the ship). You will have a quest guiding you here anyway, so it’s hard to miss. The Crown of Sorrow itself is the massive artifact embedded in the wall (pictured below).

Veteran players will know what is expected here, but just so we are all on the same page, upgrading the Crown of Sorrow is this season’s way to gain passive bonuses throughout, some of which can be really powerful, and are definitely worth seeking out.

You upgrade the Crown of Sorrow by spending Figments of Darkness, a currency you can earn throughout the season in a variety of ways. The best way to earn Figments of Darkness is by completing seasonal quests and challenges, but they can also be earned by ranking up the Crown of Sorrow itself, hitting ranks 4, 10, and 16, respectively.

How to Get Seasonal Quests & Seasonal Challenges

Getting seasonal quests and challenges is a fairly straightforward process. You will already have a main story questline (called Bound in Sorrow) that you can progress in order to earn Figments of Darkness. You can’t miss it, as soon as you boot up the game during Season of the Haunted, you will play a mandatory introductory mission that is the first step.

Challenges change week to week, but check your log and see which are currently available. Most are simple enough, for example, Sorrow Bound (this weeks first challenge), simply requires you to complete the Bound in Sorrow quest, and defeat Scorned chieftans along the way.

By doing the above, completing bounties, and by engaging in the new Nightmare Containment public event aboard the Leviathan, you will increase the overall rank of the Crown of Sorrow. You will earn powerful rewards at each rank up, and through this larger process, keep the Power level of your Guardian in line with the content you will be facing.

And that’s it, everything you need to know about how to upgrade the Crown of Sorrow in Destiny 2. For more helpful tips and tricks, be sure to check out our expansive guide wiki, or check out the related articles below.
