Gathering rare crafting materials is hard enough in Nier Replicant, but it becomes even harder when the same types of enemies drop different items based on where they’re found. As such, it would be little wonder if you needed help figuring out how to get a Broken Wristwatch in Nier Replicant, considering they only drop from one type of enemy that isn’t found very often.
Fortunately for you, we’ve got the answers you’re looking for. Read on to find out which enemies drop them, how to increase their drop rate, and more.
How to Get a Broken Wristwatch in Nier Replicant
The only way to get Broken Wristwatches in Nier Replicant’s is via item drops from tall and lanky Shades; specifically, the ones which wield a long Shade sword and occasionally Shade shields.
While they’re fairly common throughout the world in the first half of the game, they’ll become nearly non-existent in the second half and will begin to drop different items.
Fortunately, the variant from the first half can be found in abundance and farmed by completing “The Magical Stone” side quest, and then fighting the Shades in the fortune teller’s visions repeatedly. If you haven’t gained access to the fortune teller yet, we’ve got a guide dedicated to completing her questline here.
However, it’s worth noting that a Broken Wristwatch is a moderately rare drop for this enemy. Likewise, they aren’t guaranteed to drop items at all, meaning you’ll likely have to farm them for a while before you get all the Broken Wristwatches you need.
As such, you’ll want to equip words from the Mah family to your weapons and magic to increase item drop rate. This should increase the chance of enemies dropping items by up to 30 percent, driving up the chance of the slim Shades dropping items for you to collect.
Does Changing the Difficulty Increase Item Drop Rate?
Also, a quick bit of rumor-busting you should be aware of: Changing the difficulty will not make getting Broken Wristwatches easier in Nier Replicant.
While shifting the difficulty down to easy will make combat less of a chore, it won’t have any impact on your chances of getting items. The RNG that determines this remains the same across all difficulties.
