A big draw of Battletoads is the fact that you can dive into the game alongside two friends, but there are advantages to taking on the title as a duo or solo player. One such advantage is being able to call in different characters at a moment’s notice, and that’s why we’re here with a guide on how to tag in in Battletoads.
How to Tag in in Battletoads
Battletoads’ tag in mechanics is exactly what it sounds like: It allows you to tag in a character not currently in play, alfter which you can utilize said character’s special skill sets on the fly and enjoy their fresh pool of health besides.
To use it, all you need to do is press the Directional Button assigned to a character not currently in use. The Down Button will bring Pimple into the fray; the Left Button brings Rash out onto the field; and the Right Button brings Zits into the fight.
Whoever you choose, they’ll leap into combat with a full health bar –so long as they haven’t been used yet– and provide you with a new move set to utilize against whatever enemies are bearing down on you.
As mentioned before though, this only works if you’re playing either as a single player or with two players. If you have three players actively using the game, no Battletoads will be on standby and, as a result, you won’t be able to swap any new toads in.
That’s really all there is to it. The tag in mechanic is meant to allow players who don’t have a full party of players to gain an advantage against the game’s enemies, and if used right can help you gain the upperhand in tense or challenging situations.
