This guide will talk you through everything you need to know about upgrading weapons and armor in Gears Tactics.
How to Upgrade Weapons & Armor in Gears Tactics
You can change out any unit’s loadout from the Barracks menu from your Home screen. However, in order to change their weapons and armor, you’ll need to have got some upgraded gear in missions by finding Cases.
Getting Weapon & Armor Upgrades in Gears Tactics
The way to do this is to find Cases lying around each mission that you play. Some will have a faint blue glow such as the one in the screenshot below, but you may also see some that have a purple glow. These are ‘Epic’ chests and give you more powerful weapon and armor parts for your units than the ‘Rare’ blue chests.
You’ll need to direct one of your units to go and pick up the Case whenever you see one. To do this, they’ll need to be within movement range of the case. When they are, left-click on the case and you should see a little triangle arrow icon appear. Left-click again and you’ll pick the case up.
Once you reach the end of the mission, you’ll then need to open all of the Cases you collected in order to get access to the weapons and armor on offer. To do this, select ‘Claim’ under the ‘Cases’ option on your Home screen.
Upon opening the Cases, you’ll then find all of the new weapon and armor upgrades you need within the Barracks.
Upgrading a Unit’s Weapons & Armor
Any character that can equip a new weapon upgrade or armor piece will have a red top right-hand corner next to their name. Click on them, and you’ll be given a breakdown of all their different equipment types.
Select the weapon part or armor piece that you want to change, and you’ll then see all of the available parts that you can replace it with. Armor and weapon upgrades can give a boost to a unit’s base stats, as well as providing them with passive buffs too.
