Once you’ve reached the max level cap of 30, you won’t have finished leveling up and improving your character.

Gear Score then comes into play proper (though it’s there from the start), which is a score that reflects how powerful the gear you currently have equipped is. Earning and equipping higher level gear will result in you increasing your overall Gear Score.

You’ll have noticed Missions and areas of the map have recommended Gear Scores, but once you’ve reached level 30, your grind will be solely focused on increasing this, as you’ll have maxed your character level out.
