Rage 2 is the latest in a trend of high-profile, AAA FPS experiences with more of a focus on the story and campaign than competitive multiplayer. Last generation competitive games stole the limelight but it’s been at least shared in this era with the success of games like Doom and Wolfenstein. Although Rage 2 also falls into that category, some might be wondering if there is co-op multiplayer, either splitscreen or online, in Rage 2. Let’s talk about that.
Is There Co-op Multiplayer in Rage 2?
While Bethesda has been leading the way in great single-player FPS games, they haven’t always been just about the campaign. Although not as revered as its campaign, Doom (2016) did have a competitive multiplayer mode at least. Wolfenstein on the other hand though is exclusively single-player.
Considering Rage 2 is an open-world experience with some Borderland vibes going for it, it’s not crazy for some players to think that maybe there is a co-op multiplayer mode that could be enjoyed either splitscreen or online.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news if you were hoping there was one though. Rage 2 is 100% single-player only. Depending on your point of view this might be a disappointment, or great news.
Some people prefer that developers focus their development resources on a game that’s designed around being a great single-player game. These six games for example could have done without their multiplayer modes.
It’s not all bad though, Mass Effect 3Â and these 12 other games for example had a surprisingly great co-op multiplayer modes!
Regardless of how you feel though, it doesn’t really matter for Rage 2 because that is what it is.
Rage 2 does not have a co-op multiplayer mode, either splitscreen or online, and it’s unlikely that one will be added at any point in the near future or ever.
