Devil May Cry 5 has arrived, and long term fans can finally jump back into the most recent numbered entry into the franchise since DMC 4 released way back over a decade ago in 2008. Time flies when you’re not sarcastically killing demons I guess. Anyway, if you’re here, you’re probably wondering how to lock on in Devil May Cry 5.

Locking on to enemies is a crucial video game skill in any 3D action game and obviously, Devil May Cry 5 is no different. The game is balanced around being able to preform combos accurately, and if you’re just flailing around missing everything, you’re no good to anyone at all.

To lock on in Devil May Cry 5, hold down the R1/RB button and after a brief moment, you’ll lock onto the nearest enemy that your character is facing towards. Once you’re locked onto, well something, you can switch to a different target by pressing R1/RB and clicking the left stick.

In case you lock onto the wrong enemy, this will allow you to flip between other foes that are currently trying to give you the business. There’s nothing more frustrating than locking onto something you didn’t actually want to attack yet, so make sure you remember those buttons for it.

That’s pretty much all you need to know about how to lock on in Devil May Cry 5 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. For more on the game, be sure to check out our wiki guide which has all the tips and tricks you’ll need to survive the latest in the long-running franchise.
