It feels as though we waited half a decade for Below to finally release. Okay, maybe it wasn’t actually that far off half a decade, but the dark roguelike has finally hit the Xbox One. Luckily, it’s at least one of the easiest Xbox One achievements to get from December 2018.

As you descend further into the intricate cave system below the surface, players must fend off enemies and craft ingredients in order to keep various survival meters filled.

Though it’ll take you upwards of 20 hours to complete Below, it’s possible to actually net 300 of its 1000 Gamerscore within 10 minutes of starting the game.

Each of Below’s 10 achievements weighs in at 100 Gamerscore, and you’ll get one for picking up the lantern at the very beginning of the game, another for dying with any character, and a final one for retrieving that very same lantern with your new character from the corpse of the last.

Once you’ve grabbed these achievements, it’ll likely take you a fair bit longer to grind out some of the others. For Game Pass owners and achievement hoarders, this should be a no-brainer to download.

It’s not going to cost you a penny and you can be 300 Gamerscore better off without having to spend a long time with Below’s frustrating mechanics.

That said, if you do find yourself charmed by Below’s divisive mechanics and challenging difficulty, many of Below’s other achievements can be unlocked as you progress fairly simply with the help of video guides, it’s just a case of advancing through the story.

Just Cause 4

The Just Cause series is pretty much all about blowing stuff up in creative ways with an awesome physics engine, in an enormous open world. There’s a ton of stuff to blow up, and a ton of ways to do exactly that depending on your creativity.

As such, while it might not be leading the industry in storytelling or visuals, it’s a pretty fun time regardless. And what’s more, Just Cause 4‘s Xbox One achievements list is pretty straightforward, too.

Many of Just Cause 4’s 31 achievements you’ll simply unlock by playing through the story, and while reaching ‘Army of Chaos level 14’ might sound a bit daunting when you first start playing, it’s not actually as time-consuming as you may think.

That’s not to say Just Cause 4 is a walk in the park, as there are a couple of tedious achievements you’ll need to get if you want the full 1000 Gamerscore.

‘Been around the World’ requires you to discover every location in the game, which has a world size of roughly 1,024km2 meaning you could be spending a whole lot of time just hunting these down.

Similarly, the ‘Know My Name’ achievement requires players to ‘Get on the Leaderboard for every Feat’ which will require you to be proficient in using the wingsuit and driving the various vehicles in the game.

Ultimately, though Just Cause 4’s achievement list is fairly straightforward, but time-consuming if you don’t know what you’re doing or where you’re going. Fortunately, for the ‘Been around the World’ achievement there are various handy video guides to help save you some time.

Thronebreaker

thronebreaker

While Thronebreaker might not offer the enormous open world, deep RPG mechanics, and engaging combat of the mainline entries in The Witcher series, it’s still absolutely worth fans’ time.

Rather than putting you in the shoes of a Witcher this time around, players are put in control of an army, made up of a deck of cards.

These are then used in battle against your opponent when you’ll need to exploit weaknesses to succeed, or you’ll need to use them to solve puzzles.

This card-based gameplay is then blended rather perfectly into a story-driven experience, following the story of Queen Meve of Lyria, whose country has been invaded by the Nilfgaardian Empire. Put short, this is a great side entry in The Witcher series.

What’s more, the achievements list is nice and easy going, too. There are 40 achievements in total, making this the longest Xbox One achievement list for December 2018, but many of these you’ll naturally earn as you’re playing through the game.

That being said, the likes of ‘Burn After Reading’ and ‘Tax Collector’ may prove a little more difficult, as these are collectible-based achievements. You’ll need to find and read all spymaster letters, and gold chests respectively in order to unlock these.

Keep your wits about you, however, and you should be able to spot most of these as you play through the card-based goodness.

From simply playing through the story, we managed to amass 78% of Thronebreaker’s Xbox One achievements, so a bit of elbow grease will make those final few fairly easy going.
