How to Hyper Train in Pokemon Let’s Go

Pokemon: Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee threw quite the Mankey wrench into the franchise’s leveling system. You can’t battle wild monsters anymore and are encouraged to capture ludicrous amounts of surplus Pokemon for Candies. Despite these changes, the Individual Values, or IVs for short, that determine each Pokemon’s stats remain intact. Normally, a Pokemon with low IVs will always be weaker than a similar one with high (or even perfect) IVs, but that’s where Hyper Training comes in. Here’s how to Hyper Train in Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee.

Hyper Training lets you give Bottle Caps to a designated Hyper Trainer for an immediate IV boost. Normally, Hyper Trainers only increase one IV per cap, but if they’re given a Gold Bottle Cap, they will maximize all of a Pokemon’s IVs.

While Pokemon: Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee’s Hyper Trainer is the old man in the Daycare Center on Route 5, you can’t just stroll up to him any time you like, even if you have been hoarding Bottle Caps. Pokemon can’t be Hyper Trained until they reach Level 100. But, once they reach that penultimate milestone, the Hyper Trainer will be more than happy to max out their IVs for Caps.

Now, as we’ve already established in the Bottle Caps guide, you can battle Mina, who waits in Vermilion City, once a day for a single Bottle Cap. And, even though the Hyper Trainer mentions Gold Bottle Caps by name, you can’t get those special items just yet. But, once you have a pocketful of caps and at least one max-level Pokemon, you’re free to visit the Hyper Trainer and ask for his services. Arceus knows you will need his help if you ever plan on competing with other players.

This is a great way to strengthen your pocket monsters if you’re planning on playing competitively with other people online. Aside from just Hyper Training a creature, you can also save yourself some trouble by visiting the Fortune Teller to get the nature you want, and also remember to check your captures to see how they’re doing IV-wise.
